Yes, we know. The beach outside Mar-a-Lago will run red with ketchup after Donald Trump hears about this. So far it’s on the Fox News Digital Edition, I don’t know if it’s been on the broadcast version.

According to multiple sources within the group, officially known as “The Eight-Year Alliance,” DeSantis is “a proven winner,” a contender with a depth of policy proven by what he’s accomplished at the state level, and a leader who “does what he says.”

The primary motivation of the group, the sources said, is to promote a candidate they feel would be a viable contender for two presidential terms, something they see in DeSantis. They also want to prevent former President Donald Trump “immediately becoming a lame-duck president” should he win back the White House, considering the polarizing affect his persona has had on American politics.

The group includes former Acting Associate Attorney General Jesse Panuccio, former Special Assistant to the Secretary of Defense Will Bushman, former Counselor to the Secretary and White House Liaison at the Department of Labor Pedro Allende, former Senior Counsel and Senior Advisor to the Secretary of Commerce James Uthmeier and Principal Deputy General Counsel at the Department of Commerce David Dewhirst.

That’s five. Who are the other 95?

Fox has not yet been provided a full list of names of those that have signed on as part of the coalition.

The sources emphasized that they were not seeking to bash Trump, and that they were “proud” of their service to the Trump administration and its effort to “shake things up” in Washington, D.C., but that they were now “wholeheartedly” behind DeSantis.

This is a good story to keep tabs on. I want to see who the other 95 are. I’m not doubting that there are 95 former Trump employees who are now sick of him  — or more — I’m strenuously doubting whether there are 95 people or anywhere near that who would actually go on record as saying that they used to work for Trump but now they want to follow DeSantis.

If anything, anybody who ever worked for Trump is going to hedge their bets and see if he gets back in, so that they can become reemployed. This is particularly true in the scenario that Trump intends to go in and eliminate Civil Service once he’s in office. That’s a coup d’etat in and of itself and the possibilities to make out like a bandit in that environment are endless. Can you imagine the chaos?

So let’s see if the Eight-Year Alliance grows because I don’t see it. But then again, I don’t see DeSantis doing more than a short sprint, or a stroll maybe, unless he figures out how to get some of the GOP big money donors on his side.

  1. Seems like Fox has decided to sit on the fence where Trump is concerned, a fence top with razor blades embedded in it. They do I think want the Trump days to be over and had DeSantis pegged as the heir apparent. Still, as you wrote yesterday they continue to try and hedge their bet some. Well see how well that works for them, but sitting on the fence as I’ve described is a good way to mutilate if not cut off the ole “family jewels.”

    • When building a stone fence in Mexico (and other places I guess). A row of broken glass is put into the cement of the top of the fence to deter fence sitters. Of course, trump deployed the military to deploy razor wire to the border to keep people from crossing. Eventually that razor wire ended up on the top of fences in Mexico, they are a resourceful people.

  2. So the former trump officials stop backing one loser in order to back another loser? Well, that’s productive. Has anyone told them they could accomplish more by farting into a tornado?
