It’s no new information that the purpose of Fox News’ fear mongering is to get rubes to part with their money. That’s a no brainer and it has been memorialized any number of times, but I think the cartoon below really kills it. Play the clip first, because that is what goes too far.

To hear Fox News tell it, we are in the middle of WWIII. The zombies and the aliens have eaten/enslaved everybody and whomever is left is battling for a can of beans and trying to get home by sunset. It is so over the top, it is laughable.

It’s laughable indeed, but this next clip is more along the lines of, you don’t know whether to laugh or cry. Tucker Carlson is making the argument that COVID-19 vaccination is the slippery slope to eugenics. Must be heard to be believed.

That is getting pretty dark.

What is disgusting about all this is that Carlson knows it’s a game, but a lot of people in his audience don’t, or he wouldn’t have an audience. Doctors in red states where a lot of people are resisting vaccinations report that they get people in their emergency rooms all the time with COVID who tell the doctors that they’re amazed that the virus is real. Raw Story:

“It is heart-wrenching to see unvaccinated individuals come into the hospital with regret,” Dr. Ryan Dare of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock told NBC News.

He told the network the hospitalizations are “nearly 100 percent preventable.”

He noted treating clients who, “if they could do it all over again, would have had the vaccine in a second.”

On Tuesday, Republican Gov. Asa Hutchinson admitted his state was “losing ground” in the battle against the pandemic. […]

Juarez reported he has patients who are “shocked” that coronavirus exists and can be fatal.

“A comment they make all the time is that they wish that they knew they were going to end up in the hospital this sick and they would have made a different choice and got the vaccine,” he said.

Wyoming is also suffering, with only a 35% vaccination rate.

Dr. Andy Dunn, a family physician and chief of staff at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, said he is “beyond frustrated.”

“Whether it’s the cowboy way or whatever, the mentality of so much of Wyoming is just ‘we’re not doing it.’ It’s really horrible and heartbreaking,” he told NBC News.

People are literally dying because they believe something a trust fund baby on teevee tells them. Maybe this is normal. Maybe this is the logical outcome of funding being cut to education and mental health services. Maybe this is what a couple of generations raised with television as the babysitter produces. Maybe it’s Darwin’s theory proving true. In any event, welcome to life/death in the year 2021.

  1. It’s really sad that this is how some people are getting their reality check. I just wonder how the rest will get back to sanity. They are so far out in crazy land.

    • Some may never get all the way back – most can function in every-day situations, but when it comes to anything potentially political, they go off the rails.

  2. I just saw a map on The Eleventh Hour showing Covid hot spots in the South. They had an orange ball/blob over the hot spots. The NE corner of Miss is the hot spot in my state. My wife was in the hospital up there and while up there I found these people had complained to Comcast so much about MSNBC that the company took it off their service.

  3. Sounds like the republiQanons are lining up to get their Darwin Awards! As I have stated before, I have no f*cks left to give about the republiQanons getting Covid because they are too stupid to get vaccinated…if only they would not end up infecting innocent people. Most people have had a chance to get vaccinated by now.

  4. Comcast up.here in Taxachusetts ( where we pay a lot Less in state taxes than in GA and actually get something for them– there was,a,road in GA,about 2 blocks long that it took 5 years to build; here they built a,similar one in a summer) carries MSNBC. Guess it is a local.ban.Thank Goddess.
As usual they accuse Dems of things they want to do.We aren’t living I. Powell’s 1984, but in Huxley ‘s Brave New World. A lot of Gammas, low IQ and just enough training to do necessary menial.jobs, is what they want, along with fewer higher level.humans for middle management and supervisory positions with the top 1-2 % as the Alphas pulling everyone ‘s strings.

  5. Part of me wonders why Fox has gone so over the top bonkers, but I don’t think it’s overly complicated.

Trump fragmented the conservative media bubble. He pushed a portion of Fox viewers to OANN and NewsMax. That is an existential threat to Fox, because their profitability is based on carrier fees…the amount they get for every subscriber with Fox in their package whether that person ever watches Fox or not. They get about $2, which makes them the third highest per subscriber fees.

Providers would love to negotiate these down. But Fox had a monopoly on a very noisy, desirable bloc of viewers. If that bloc fragments, there’s no reason for providers or their customers to subsidize Fox.

Thus, going bonkers to get the viewers back. I don’t think it’s going to work. I don’t think Fox can survive in its current format with its viewers peeling off.

  6. someone really needs to remove Liar Tuck before he does irreparable harm to either the nation or faux nuz viewers. It’s not only that he is an idiot, it’s that his audience are idiots and believe every utterance exuded from that sewer hole of a mouth of his. I am appalled that even after his attorneys in court used that “no one in their right mind believes what he says” defense, he still has a show and an audience.
