This is all depressingly familiar. House GOPers are concealing, hiding a transcript from a witness and making up excuses about why. This time they went all the way down to Florida to interview Carol Fox. Maybe they thought going to her would “soften her up” by not making her go to the expense of traveling to DC. After all, the company (Americore) she headed and which is at the center of this part of the “scandal” went kaput. Or maybe the GOPers wanted a break from cold weather and decided a trip to the Sunshine State on the taxpayer dime would be nice. (With DeSantis having pretty much taken up residence in Iowa it’s GOP paradise down there right now) Whatever the reason, they had their interview with Ms. Fox.
It didn’t go at all the way they hoped.
The Messenger has an account of what did, or perhaps more accurately did not transpire. Comer and his pals were sooooooooo sure that THIS time they had the goods on President Biden. I can imagine up until the interview was in progress they had dreams not of sugar plums dancing in their wee little heads (hey, it’s Christmas) but rather headlines of the President taking bribes, HUGE bribes laundered through his brother James. You see, James Biden (the President’s brother) got a consulting gig for Americore and a pretty nice one. For 600k he’d help them secure badly needed capital from the middle east. Well, all that didn’t work out. James Biden wasn’t able to deliver, at least not on the scale they needed.
However, James had borrowed a substantial sum from his brother Joe. And he paid back the 200K he owed his brother when he got a chunk of his 600k fee from Americore. (Yes, that very day) Maybe that looks bad. I know in the past a friend helped me out (he was VERY well off) with a loan of several thousand dollars and the very day I settled on the sale of my townhome in northern VA I met up with him at a watering hole we went to sometimes and handed him a check for the full amount. Most of us are like that. If someone helps us out in a jam as soon as we can we pay them back. But for Republicans hell bent on finding SOME kind of dirt on President Biden this was more than enough to make them assume the worst:
The GOP has homed in on James Biden’s repayment of a $200,000 loan from his brother, the former vice president. James Biden repaid the loan, in full, on the same day that he received $200,000 from Americore. The payment came when Joe Biden was not in public office.
Take note of that last sentence. The part about Joe Biden being plain ole regular citizen Joe Biden when this all went down. He wasn’t VP anymore. Or even a Presidential candidate. Just literally another regular Joe. Ok, maybe someone who served decades as a Senator and then eight years as VP isn’t really regular but you know what I mean. And hell, the Amtrak workers sure felt he was one of them, as do the folks up in Wilmington. For all his time in the Senate and as VP his net-worth ranks down near the bottom of those who’ve been in the Senate.
Anyway, what matters is that during her Monday interview Fox didn’t tell GOPers what they wanted to hear. She not only didn’t have “receipts” to give them, she said had no evidence of Joe Biden ever being involved in James’ business dealings! I suppose it could have been worse for Comer. At least this was in private instead of a political belly flop when he tried to have “expert witnesses” nail the Bidens in public hearings. THAT however is the problem. This interview was in private, and the transcript will apparently be held in secret with no plans to release it. According to the Oversight Committee:
“The House Oversight Committee is committed to providing transparency to the American people in all of our investigations and oversight,” the spokesperson said. “The committee will release the transcript of Carol Fox’s transcribed interview once all interviews explaining how James and Joe Biden received money from Americore are complete.”
Sure. Right after Trump gets back in the WH and actually has “Infrastructure Week” AND releases his “Beautiful new healthcare plan – way better than Obamacare.”
The linked article notes Democrats calling out the GOP and them doing their “Who? Us? Trying to play Games?” routine. Here’s the thing. This interview happened this past Monday. It’s now Thursday and if there was anything, any actual “there” there that could be used against either James or Joe Biden they’d have already started leaking it. As the saying goes: “They got nuttin”
Is is any wonder that HUNTER Biden called them on their antics and said let’s talk, only in open session? Comer, Jordan and the rest are terrified of that prospect. We’ll have to wait and see how all that plays out. For now, the Oversight Committee GOPers are left with a big lump of coal in their Christmas stockings.

Denis, please tell me what I am not seeing that I should be seeing. I am looking at your story after 8 pm on December 23, the day after your exchange with Concinnity. He asked you about some seemingly missing quotation marks in the title (which I call a headline). You responded: “Yes, Thanks. Fixing now.” He then thanked you for fixing the problem.
I thought that “Fixing now” meant that you were putting some quotation marks where you had originally omitted them. I scrolled back to the top of the story and looked at the headline again:

it’s great when the keystone cops committee gets shown to be exactly what they are. Nothing!! this is an elementary School version of the Benghazi investigation. a whole lot of bloviating and bluster with nothing to show for it. this is another example of why Hunter demanded a public hearing.
Could some enterprising journalist seek an interview with Ms. Fox and ask questions about what she said to Comer? If so, publishing the details would not only be a “scoop” for said journo, it would take the wind out of the sails of the Comer version of the Titanic?!
