Chuck Schumer Tells Trump, “Stop Bullying, Harassing, and Lying About the Vote In Florida”

The battle lines are being drawn, and not a moment too soon. Donald Trump and his idiot spawn, Donald Jr., have been braying about illegal votes and voter fraud on Twitter without a shred of evidence. Senators Bill Nelson and Chuck Schumer gave a press conference Tuesday and simply stated the case for all the votes to be counted before the election is called — not an outrageous proposition, surely, in a democracy.

“It is a bedrock principle of our democracy that every vote is counted…President Trump and Governor Scott seem dead set against counting every vote. Trump and Scott are attempting to bully the election officials out of their jobs. It’s just plain wrong. It’s un-American. Attempts to bully, threaten, and cajole officials into not counting the votes is a dangerous step away from the democracy we all cherish. It must stop now. Donald Trump wants to rush the election and not let all the votes be counted. He said Bill Nelson should concede — before everyone’s vote is counted? If he really wants an honest election President Trump will stop bullying, harassing, and lying about the vote in Florida…which needs to proceed without the heavy hand of the president tipping the scales of justice.

“Governor Scott needs to recuse himself from any involvement in the recount and do it now. He’s a contestant in this election. And can’t possibly be trusted as a fair arbiter as the votes are tallied. In Georgia, Secretary of State Brian Kemp stepped aside for this very reason. An contestant in an election can’t have a thumb on the scale while votes are being counteed. And it’s not just that Governor Scott appears to be conflicted….He alledged voter fraud when his own officials, that he appointed, said there was none.  He attempted to direct state resources to stop the counting of ballots in areas where he knew the Democatic turnout to be heavy.”

This is a good use of eleven minutes, if you have the time, because although what Schumer says is very basic, his argument is air tight. It will be interesting to see what the Orange One has to say to this. One of the best parts of Schumer’s argument is when he praises the Republicans in Arizona for the way they handled the election there and didn’t start mudslinging when there was no need to do so. It’s no secret that Florida is vastly more corrupt than Arizona, and it can only be hoped that sanity can prevail, and  this election can be fairly concluded — again, not a high bar to expect in a democracy. Too bad we have a wanna be dictator in the Oval Office with banana republic ideals, instead of an actual president.
