Shortly after Brazilian Federal deputy Erika Hilton submitted a request for his extradition from DeSantis World back to the nation whose government he tried to overthrow today, El Presidente Jair Bolsonaro had a sudden attack of indigestion brought on by the Colonel’s 11 delicious herbs and spices and checked himself into a Florida Hospital.

The Daily Beast

“The day after his extremist supporters stormed the Brazilian capital, former President Jair Bolsonaro was admitted to an Orlando-area hospital Monday for issues with “abdominal pain,” according to the newspaper O Globo. The exiled ex-prez has endured multiple hospitalizations over gut blockages since he was stabbed during a presidential campaign tour in 2018. The last flare up occurred in November, when he was admitted to the Armed Forces Hospital in Brasília. Before that, Bolsonaro was afflicted in January, and then again in March. He’s also reportedly been hospitalized in recent years for COVID, bladder stones, and a skin infection. Bolsonaro left for the U.S. in late December, shortly before his left-wing opponent, President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, assumed office. He’s since been spotted around Florida chowing down on KFC and wandering around a Publix supermarket.“

Twitter wags, as you might suspect, had plenty to say about it.

  1. I can’t remember the last time I ate KFC. A couple of decades ago I think. Whatever. I’m commenting because if I’m not mistaken the EX Brazilian Prez has spent time with Trump at his dump. Maybe KFC is taking the rap for shitty food Bolsonaro ate while dining with Trump and dodging thrown ketchup bottles. (Maybe one of those thrown bottles hit him in the gut. Naw. I don’t think Trump could throw hard enough!)

    • It’s been at least that long since I last ate it, but I remember it being not bad. (The biscuits were good.)
This may depend on location, though. I’ve eaten at one chain where one location is good and one is so bad we complained to the chain. (That location is long gone.)

  2. Our gov’t should let Brazil know that we will be happy to expedite Bolsonaro’s return. If Brazil sends a medically equipped plane to pick him up (or we use one of ours), he would be ready as soon as he can be safely (non-lethally) moved from the hospital. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mean anything like “dischargable”—-more like using an ambulance to get him to the plane mainly because of the gurney and IV’s, etc. Handling the request in this manner will be more effective to keep him from slipping away.

  3. Some “herbs and spices” are toxic (nutmeg comes to mind), but not int the quantites normally used in kitchens. And IANAD, so I can’t speak to the effects of a stab wound on the gut long term. I would have expected competent surgery to remedy that, but maybe I’m expecting too much. Of course one can’t expect an idiot to follow doctor;s insructions about ingestting to minimize or eliminate symptoms. But I pity the hospital trying to collect

  4. Unfortunately, any surgery that involves the intestines is highly prone to adhesions which can cause intestinal blockage. These often require additional surgery. If the blockage isn’t treated in a timely matter the tissue can become necrotic and require additional surgery. Issues with adhesions can be intermittently frequent. Some people suffer greatly from them, some not so much, but it’s not something predictable or preventable. Since he was stabbed it’s entirely possible this is all legit. Of course, it’s also an entirely plausible ruse.

  5. Living here in Brasil since 2011, I have witnessed all the machinations, from the campaign and subsequent legislative coup against Dilma Rousseff, through the current situation, in which, sadly, a major number of players are the wealthier spawn of German and northeastern Italian immigrants of the 19th century, who have never give up their culture of aryan superiority. In face, the state of Santa Catarina is noted for its huge percentage of neo-nazi activism, with Parana and Rio Grande do Sul following closely behind, with their interior towns dominated by these immigrant descendants. In fact, I read just today that other acts are planned for today beginning at 6PM our time, including the occupation of Brasilia again. The government is working hard to discover exactly who is financing these operations and paying for the busses taking these “barbarian terrorists” to the capital. Many of the more verbal bolsonaristas are from these states, and have beaucoup bucks to be sponsors. With the economy in tatters after Dilma’s removal from office, most of these people would not have had the wherewithall to make these trips. 40 buses from the southernmost state, for example. Add them to the Koch empire and what do we have? At least the election judge Alexandre Moraes is ahead of the game and has moved fast, along with the senate to federalize security in the capital through 32 January. Of course all right wing senators from these three southern states voted against the measure, which passed anyway. Naturally, the whole situation plays on the racist factor and the human capacity to hate more easily than to love. Believe me, those who arrived in the middle class during the Lula years want nothing to do with those they left behind, and yet they use the ignorance of those around them to help with the destruction. Sound familiar? Same as the Hitler/Mussolini/ Trump right-wing playbook around the world.

  6. By the way, One federal legislator has already asked for the extradition of Bolsonaro. And, it is doubtful among many of the better informed in the country that the stabbing was faked, as there are too many photos that seem to show a tube sufficiently obscures as to Seem to go into his nose, while not actually doing so. Who knows. We just simply know that the Bolsonaro family has enough scandals surrounding it as Jair has attempted to create a protective private militia, and his sons to help create a political dynasty, with the help of who else but Steve two0shirts Bannon, whose ass should be in jail and not doing podcasts. We can only hope that somewhere along the line, George Santos will be extradited too, as the fugitive who fled prosecution for felony theft and fraud at age 19.
