I know. You’re sick of  hearing about Bobo the CO Clown aka Colorado Representative Lauren Boebert.  The only news you wanted to hear about her this week was that she’d lost her primary on Super Tuesday and that she’d be out of Congress. Not soon enough but at least the light at the end of the tunnel would be visible. Alas, the Congressional primaries in Colorado don’t take place until June. In the meantime Bob has picked up Trump’s endorsement which she sure as hell needs in the district she’s carpetbagged into. But there’s also a scathing report about what a lousy boss she was at Shooters, the bar and grill she owned until she caused it to go out of business.

Former employees of Shooters had plenty to say about her and none of it was good. In fact, as reported by PoliticalTribune one employee labeled her a “Monster!”  The article is quite the read. It evokes a line from a Jimmy Buffet tune albeit slightly paraphrased: “Ah the stories they did tell.” Boebert has enjoyed touting her running (she leaves out the into the ground part) Shooter’s as living own “American Dream.” An entrepreneur and whatnot. A business woman.  Uh huh. And the whole thing was played up as good ole wholesome family fun, with guns openly carried and it being one big good time. Staff and patrons all one big fun loving family.  Maybe not so much:

But according to a recent report from Mother Jones, Lauren’s own former Shooter’s employees are calling her out on her crap, exposing the fact that Boebert is every bit as horrible at being a boss as she is at being a congresswoman.

Well that sure puts a different spin on things.  As time has gone on and more has been learned about Bobo’s life, marriage and family it was hardly idyllic but there might have been a time when Shooter’s was a typical small town joint that was okay for people to work at and for folks who wanted a simple diner type meal. However, as one employee put it “The second the restaurant blew up, her head blew up, and it became something entirely different. And I got to meet a new version of her that is a monster.”  The overall picture is one of someone being just as lousy and useless as a boss as she’d been as a member of Congress:

Multiple ex-employees of Lauren Boebert’s diner have come forward and revealed that the Colorado congresswoman has a really bad habit of not paying her employees properly, or on time — but yet never seemed to have a problem when it came to ponying up the cash she needed for breast implants.

“Multiple employees say that they were paid in cash, either out of the register or from Boebert’s husband’s wallet, without any taxes deducted,” the report reads. “While many workers were struggling to make ends meet, they say Boebert spent exorbitant sums on breast implants, private schooling for her sons, and a new Cadillac Escalade. They describe her as alternately absent, showing up only when news crews were at the restaurant.”

Yes, part of that is salacious but I want to focus on the actual financial struggles of the employees.  Not getting paid on time, and sometimes out of the cash drawer or from Jayson’s wallet. In fact:

The Mother Jones report goes on to note that the majority of the Shooter employees were of the full belief that the restaurant was only being kept afloat by Lauren’s husband, who works as a consultant in the oil and gas industry in addition to their diner.

“There were times when we were waiting for him to get his check, so that way she could get us our check,” one ex-employee claims. Boyington says, “He’s the one who paid the rent, all the bills

“Shooters don’t make no money,” the former who left the establishment in 2017 said. “I left because I don’t even think we were topping $500 a day.”

Boyington also went on to say after becoming a MAGA celebrity the restaurant lost a lot of customers because she was so caught up in talking up the MAGA agenda. As he put it “She was running that business into the ground with all her speeches on Facebook Live.”  There’s one other thing I want to mention. I’m sure anyone reading this knows all about the gun theme of Shooter’s. Bobo and he waitresses in particular walked around with (loaded) pistols. It was a signature of the place. As for her talk about gun safety? Well, it seems not:

And wouldn’t you know, past employees say that all of Boebert’s public platitudes about gun safety don’t actually amount to a pile of horse manure. One former worker claims the staunchly Right-wing lawmaker actually pointed a loaded gun at him once after he told her that he would have voted in favor of a third Barack Obama term.

“She thought it was hilarious,” the employee revealed.

So she thought it was funny? Had it been me I would have waited until she was done with her little joke and had holstered the damned thing. Then after she’d turned her back snatched it out of the holster and walked outside with it. Then ejected the magazine and the round in the chamber, picked up the bullet from the ground and emptied the remaining bullets into my hand. Then drop the gun and magazine on the ground outside the door and flung those effing bullets as far as I could.  Safe gun handling at her place my ass!

Well, as I said it’s not a pretty picture. Whether Trump’s endorsement will be enough to get her a win in the primary remains to be seen. However one can hope articles like this will get plenty of attention in her newly chosen district.  I for one would LOVE to see her lose her primary. Sure, she needs that fat Congressional paycheck and all the bennies but at least we’ll know that when the new Congress convenes in January, 2025 she won’t be part of it. One can hope.

    • It’s not about being nice. It’s about avoiding her filing a police report of theft. One of her guns would cost enough retail to probably make it into felony territory. That’s why I’d just drop it on the ground outside the door – or perhaps even inside where patrons could see it and testify I didn’t walk off with it and try to “steal” it.

      • You know if Colorado is a stand your ground state and she pointed a loaded gun at you…seems to me she’s open to having her ass kicked without charges. Not that she’d be worth the trouble.

        • Kind of depends. MT is considered by many to be a “stand your ground” state. When you take a look at Montana Code Annotated § 45-3-102, the statute which outlines the circumstances under which individuals may lawfully use force to protect themselves, others, or their property, it does not include language that specifically removes the duty to retreat before using force in self-defense which is what is needed to be an actual “stand your ground” law.

Different states have different versions of either something like MT’s, which technically isn’t a SYG law, and various shades of actual SYG laws. I think TX and FL actually allow for people to come out shooting if someone looks at you cross-eyed–the actual danger part isn’t even required. I might be exaggerating a tich but not much.

MT does have a Castle Doctrine law and a defendant used it , successfully, after having shot and killed an intruder (into his home). More leeway in that although there was another incident, shooting outside a bar, where the defendant used the “I felt threatened so I shot him” (there is still debate over this supposed threat) spiel and he also was found not guilty. Juries are funny things (both the examples had juries). This second example would suggest that the actual threat needn’t be much and certainly doesn’t need to be your actual residence for lethal force to be used.

CO does not have a specific SYG statute however the CO supreme court has ruled you do not have a duty to retreat if you feel threatened so in practice, they have one even if it isn’t on the books. Courts are funny things too.

  1. Dunno, she seems like VP material.
Wasn’t “Bawdy Beetlejuice” her actual physical interpretation of the Access Hollywood tape? She could just be His Gal (with a gun)Friday. Auditions are tough.

  2. If she fails to get re-elected in Colorado, she can always move to Nevada to earn a living.

Open up a brothel and advertise “Do you think your getting screwed by the government? Here is your chance to do some screwing back! (ex) Congressperson will open up her arms (and her legs) for the right sized donation. No Beetlejuice required.
