The title says it all. MSNBC is now reporting that Michael Cohen is now talking to Mueller about collusion itself. That is huge, and despite the coverage of Michael Cohen that has hit the media over the last six months, we have not head a report that he’ss found to be talking with Mueller, specifically about collusion with Russia.
One of the MSNBC experts called this news “spic” in scope because Cohen’s relationship with Russians goes back to at least 2013, and Cohen had been there through everything. It also isolates Trump even more. Cohen spoke with Mueller “for hours,” which – as Trump’s legal hit man – is plenty of time to get out the major stuff, that Cohen could be prepared to testify.
Important to note that Mueller has not offered Cohen a deal, Cohen much be cooperating on the assumption that helping Mueller tie together the pieces is always a good idea looking forward.
Now reporting that Michael Cohen met multiple time for many hours, which tells the experts on the show that there is a great deal of important information that had to be reviewed. Additionally, the experts said that Cohen can bring forth evidence pertaining to all the financial issues that may have been difficult for Mueller to get to, or understand without testimony from the inner-sanctum.
The last thing discussed extensively is the fact that Cohen would only be speaking in circumstances where he no longer believes he will get a pardon. Given that Trump has been the first to disparage Michael Cohen as a “nobody,” that seems to be a smart move.
