Last Night AOC spoke at The Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn to a crowd gathered to discuss the dreadful events that transpired over the weekend.
“Beyond calling for national gun-control measures, many speakers focused their remarks on denouncing white supremacy, drawing loud cheers from the crowd. They pointed to white supremacy as the cause of mass shootings like the one in El Paso, which was carried out by a man who allegedly wrote that he was responding to the “Hispanic invasion of Texas,” and as the reason why gun violence in neighborhoods like Brownsville doesn’t receive the same response as other types of shootings.
In her speech, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said legislation should be passed making it easier for the FBI to investigate and crack down on “white supremacist terrorism.”
She also dedicated a portion of her speech to directly addressing people who “are falling into the grips of white supremacy that find themselves getting radicalized in a funnel of vitriol.”
“We will always be here and hold space for you to come back,” she said. “We will love you back. You are not too far gone.”

I don’t know where the El Paso shooter went to school, but a lot of us know that Texas was part of Mexico long, long before it was invaded by gringos from the US (most of them slave owners).
Texas and the states west including California were once part Mexico.
Utah, Nevada, and part of Colorado also…
Yes, most of the west and southwest were part of Mexico, and I would bet that before the continent was overrun by Europeans, the native peoples traveled throughout the area, north to south, east to west, and had for centuries. Along come the upstart Euros with their grabby, greedy ways of divvying up the land for themselves, with their arbitrary boundaries, property lines and fences. It’s farcical to hear tRump bray about ‘invasions’ when his ancestors and ours are the real invaders. Asshat.
What nonsense. The native tribes killed each other in wars of conquest quite often. The Aztecs were a minority in their empire, they enslaved the other Indians in their territory. Learn some history.
Also, ownership of land is universal in all advanced civilizations. There is no evidence civilization can exist without it, and no doubt thd result of abandoning advanced civilization would be wordwide starvation
AND, yes, Mexico owned a huge part of the US, but no one should be more grateful the illegal aliens that we took it and made it into a desirable place to be, else where would they go?
Slavery was in East Texas, not outi n the badlands, but Mexico did not make El Paso, it made Ciudad Juarez, ine of the most dangerous 100 cities in the world. No one snraks into Juarez to have a betyer life, so the fact the US took the LAND, a desert wilderness, has nothing to do with the nice pkace we made it, 177 years later.
