13 months out, and already the winds are auguring ill for the GOP. The GOP House caucus just imploded today, throwing the GOP into chaos only 34 days before the Virginia off year elections, and making the Democrats in the House the dominant power players in avoiding yet another senseless, GOP engineered government shutdown. Which debacle will place numerous vulnerable GOP House seats in danger.

And now the Supreme Court is back in session. And what do you know? It appears that even nine obnoxious, power hungry, dismissive justices can finally come to feel the pressure of the public. Without bothering to actually provide a reason, the SCOTUS version of the Disney character Uncle Scrooge McDuck, Clarence Thomas, recused himself from a J6 case involving his long time associate, John Eastman. Will wonders never cease?

But the Supreme Court is about to make sure that no matter what else happens, abortion rights is about to be front and center for the 2024 general election. Because once again, the six far right jihadists on the court can’t seem to help themselves.

One of the first cases the court is expected to take up, somewhere in the next 4-6 weeks, from the far right wingnut 5th Circuit Court in bumf*ck, Texas, is the case about the 30 year old FDA approved abortion pill Mifepristone.

The court is scheduled to hear the case in the next 4-6 weeks, which would lead to an ultimate decision somewhere between April and June. Within weeks of the start of the GOP’s National Convention to crown King Donald for the 2024 election.

This can’t end up well for the GOP. The funny thing is that the actual drug itself, and it’s safety and effectiveness, aren’t under question. What the far right wingnuts flocking to a far right, pro life judge in Texas are birching about are the later FDA rulings, allowing the drug to be dispensed through the mail, or prescribed without multiple physician visits, all of which would make the drug more difficult to obtain.

The SCOTUS, as well as the GOP are boned sideways, no matter what the decision is. If the Supreme Court rules for the FDA, that just puts wind beneath the wings of pro choice advocates to renew their efforts to get elect more pro choice members to congress, not only the US congress, but state congresses in order to sanctify abortion rights into state law.

And if the court rules for the plaintiffs, and restricts access to the drug, then the idiots unleash a feeding frenzy of pro life voters going into November of 2024, desperate to not only elect Democratic US House members to codify Roe v Wade into law, but also to elect state House and Senate members with an eye towards sanctifying abortion into the state constitutions.

I can’t stop laughing. For 50 years the GOP had an automatic voter turnout machine, as well as an endless fundraising vehicle based on ending abortion, a pipe dream they never thought obtainable after the Roe v Wade decision. And then Traitor Tot opened the Cave of Wonders, and abortion rights were overturned. And now the GOP is like the goddamned dog that finally caught the car. And they’re about to get run over by it. Don’t touch that dial.

    • To be fair, Barrett’s comment referred to the specifics as there were several different points being argued at the time. It’d be like trying to remember if the bridal gown worn by a co-worker 23 years ago was pure white or more of a cream color. Unless you dealt with color distinctions all the time, that detail probably has slipped your mind.
