I couldn’t end this day without an honorable mention for Texas junior GOP US Senator Cancun Teddy Cruz. Trying to stay in the NRA sweet spot for a possible 2024 presidential run, Cruz cravenly appeared at the NRA convention today. And of course made a horses ass out of himself. He got himself all wound up talking about the evils of modern day social life and the collapse of morals before finally getting to the point.
He ranted as he stormed across the stage that the only way to stop school shootings was to harden every school! His solution included reinforced door frames, bulletproof doors, bulletproof windows, and functioning locks on every classroom door. At least he didn’t suggest giving teachers AK-47’s.
Umm, two little things, shit-for-brains. According to former ATF supervisor ands hostage negotiator Jim Cavanaugh, there’s a standard procedure for what he called barricade breach situations. To be clear, Cavanaugh has been retired and a MSNBC contributor for several years now, so it’s not like this is some radical new technique.
The team leader forms a breach squad to clear the door and engage the shooter. This should take about 10 minutes. Meanwhile, 2 snipers circle the building to an elevated position with a view of the classroom. When everything is ready, the snipers get one shot. At the sound of the shot, the breach team takes down the door and finishes off the shooter. But if the windows are bulletproof glass, then how do the snipers take their shot?Â
If you’re charitable, you can almost forgive Cruz for that one, after all Cruz is a gutless GOP Senator, not a law enforcement specialist professional. What does Cruz know about tactical assaults and breach tactics. But the second verbal brain fart he belched out at the NRA conference today can only be chalked up to either gross ignorance, or willful stupidity.
Keep in mind, Cruz was standing behind Abbott Tuesday night at the press conference, so one can only imagine that he got the same errant briefing that Abbott did. But he’s also the junior Senator from Texas, so he could certainly demand updates to ensure that he had a firm grasp of the facts. Instead, it appears he did and had neither.
In his ill tempered rant today about hardening schools to stop school shootings one of Cruz’s hard demands was that all classroom doors have functioning locks! Are you fucking kidding me, Teddy?! We’ve known for 48 hours now that there were 19 armed cops standing outside the classroom door for more than 40 minutes, because the school district chief of police didn’t have a master key to open the classroom door! They had to root up the school janitor and have him run back and find it.
Senator Cruz, don’t you listen, you stupid shit?! The classroom door had a functioning door lock, and it was the killer who locked the door. And when it was time to put-up-or-shut-up, nobody in law enforcement had access to the master key, the easiest way into the room!
And so, for being either so blatantly ignorant, or willfully stupid to comprehend a simple fact that the rest of us have all already known for 48 hours, Texas GOP Senator Ted Cruz. Stand up and take a bow, fool!
And the former guy thinks that doors should be hardened so they lock from the inside. I guess he’s never used a door in his life – someone else has always opened and closed it for him, except when it was an automagic door.
I think DISHONORABLE mention is more fitting.
Ted Cruz maintained his personna as the rational and level headed Senator that he is. We are so proud of him and the job he does!
