This is what incompetent indifference looks like when mixed with narcissistic mania. In spite of a Category 5 hurricane barreling to the barrier islands of Florida, and yet another mass-shooting in Texas leaving seven dead, so far, Donald Trump is tweeting about The Apprentice, ratings, and #Debra Messing?
I have not forgotten that when it was announced that I was going to do The Apprentice, and when it then became a big hit, helping NBC’s failed lineup greatly, @DebraMessing came up to me at an Upfront & profusely thanked me, even calling me “Sir.” How times have changed!

That is “the most powerful man in the world,” our “Commander in Chief,” in charge, during a weekend of chaos and tragedy.
He skipped out on a trip to Poland to mark the beginning of World War II, a solemn occasion, to “monitor” the hurricane, and yet:
Trump was supposed to be in Poland this weekend. He said he canceled the trip to monitor Hurricane Dorian. He just choppered from Camp David to his golf course in VA.

This is an affront to everyone who ever dared to hope that a sitting president would – by definition – need be a serious person.
What set Trump off about Debra Messing? I looked through her Twitter feed and near as I can tell it was either this:
Please print a list of all attendees please. The public has a right to know. https://t.co/YV4UoxrPHI

Or it could be related to Messing’s tweet urging Trump to focus on the mass-shooting epidemic in our nation. Two simple tweets urging – rather politely, considering social media – the president to focus upon presidential-level issues.
Whatever it might be, the amazing point remains, this is what the president of this nation is doing this morning. Instead of focusing exclusively on an impending disaster, or the aftermath of one in Texas, Trump is golfing, and abusing Americans, publicly, for doing nothing more than issuing a challenge to act presidential.
How odd that one wonders if we aren’t better off when “the president” is occupied by golf and troll-tweeting? I suppose that is the optimist’s view. The only thing that could be worse would be if Trump took his job seriously and set about to enact more “serious” policy in line with what furthers Trump personally.
I hope that y’all are utilizing your weekend to a better end. Love your family, and keep some thoughts with our friends in Florida, and the suffering about to be bestowed on the people of the Bahamas.
****
Peace, y’all

Himself sent out a tweet congratulating the various police agencies in west Texas for their actions yesterday, never mind that Himself’s buddies in the NRA and the Senate made it possible, and that the shooter had a criminal record and shouldn’t have been able to get *any* firearm, let alone the one he actually used (which seems to have been an AR/AK type).
But of course it was an AK/AR type, those weapons are only good for killing…They are NOT sport rifles, they are NOT for anything other than to kill people. But it’s all about the money, how much more of this shit do we have to put up with??? Seriously.
I suggest he monitor the hurricane from Mar-a-Lago.

Just imagine the Fox “News” reaction if, during his time in office, Obama had spent half of every day going on Twitter and attacking private citizens over perceived slights against him. (And I do have to wonder what Nixon would’ve been like had social media been around during his presidency? Nixon was known, after all, for having an “enemies list”–whether formal or informal.)
