Is there any room under that bus, you know, the one that Donald Trump throws everybody under eventually? I’m thinking that they must all end up in an underground city, like Zion, when Trump is through pitching them out of his world. They just go under the bus, and there’s a rabbit hole.
Or, alternatively, maybe the bodies are just stacked up in the street and now the bus is eye level with Trump’s penthouse. It’s one or the other. Like they say at Fox News, we report, you decide.

That sounds like one and done to me. Trump gave his endorsement, all caps, even Fox News is reporting it didn’t help. I heard that myself on the car radio less than an hour ago.
But McCarthy is not budging, supposedly, although hopefully when the House reconvenes at 8:00 ET, he will have gained the good grace and composure to concede. Or may he needs to make this bloody and prolonged, for no reason.
If so, McCarthy is suffering from Mike Pence syndrome. Pence is finished in politics and everybody knows it but him. It’s some kind of warped perception that the two men share, maybe they can get a group rate from a shrink who can explain it to them.
McCarthy has nothing left to trade. He’s traded it all. His enemies are intractable.
Let’s see what happens tonight. I think the only way things can go is to Fred Upton or some other compromise speaker. The beauty of this, is that technically the Republicans may rule the House but if it goes to a compromise Speaker, plenty of concessions to Democrats will go with it.
