Talk about a cliffhanger ending. The House Ways and Means Committee has been trying for seven, count ’em, seven years to get their hands on Donald Trump’s tax returns. Now they finally have. CNN:
The House Ways and Means Committee now has six years of Donald Trump’s federal tax returns, ending a years long pursuit by Democrats to dig into one of the former president’s most closely guarded personal details.
The Treasury Department has complied with last week’s court order to hand over the documents, a spokesperson from the Treasury Department confirmed to CNN on Wednesday. […]
The committee, led by Democrat Richard Neal, had sought six years of Trump’s tax records, primarily from the time he served as president. That included records about both Trump personally and several of his corporate entities.
The documents are not expected to be immediately released to the public.
They may not be immediately released to the public, but consider this: Trump is running for president again, so he wouldn’t have any reason to not release them, right? I mean, he has nothing to hide, right, and releasing the returns would only show what an above board guy he is.
That smashing sound you hear in the distance is an entire case of ketchup going into the wall.
Now, of course, the Committee has to move like the wind before the gavel passes to the GOP in January. But I have no doubt but that they will. This is Nancy Pelosi’s last ride and I’m sure she’ll do it in grand style.

They’d better work fast. I can guarantee you that the first thing that committee will do after the new Congress is sworn in is send the whole shebang back to Treasury. Or maybe throw a shredding party. Someone’s probably got Ollie North’s number on file. (be on the lookout for Fawn Hall!)
Surely there’s a Senate Committee which would b willing to pick this up if necessary. There’s a Finance Committe, and Ethics Committee, and a Joint Committee on Taxation (same chair as the Finance Committee.) And 21 others.
Yes, can we PLEASE quit assuming that the Dems are damsels in distress or morons already? I daresay they’ve been laying contingency plans for where we are than they’re letting on.
