Donald Trump is headlining in a cow pasture in Alabama tonight, in a state which is crippled by COVID-19. In fact, a State of Emergency has just been declared. AL.com:
The Cullman City Council passed a resolution during a special called meeting Thursday morning to declare a State of Emergency due to threat that COVID-19 continues to pose to the city’s residents.
The declaration of the State of Emergency allowed the city to provide the additional personnel and equipment for this weekend’s political rally after it was requested by Cullman Regional. […]
Cullman Regional Chief Operating Officer Nesha Donaldson sent a letter to the city Wednesday requesting additional support at the rally, and cited the hospital’s overcrowding, bed shortages, labor shortages and an increased strain on Cullman EMS.
In the letter, Donaldson said the hospital will be providing medical support at the rally, but needs help from the city to be able to maintain better response times for COVID-19 issues and allow for better staffing at the hospital.
The hospital’s most recent COVID-19 update on Wednesday afternoon showed that the hospital was treating 56 COVID-19 patients, 12 of whom are on ventilators. The Alabama Hospital Association also announced Wednesday that there were no available ICU beds in Alabama out of the 1,562 units in the state.
Throwing caution to the winds is nothing new in Trump world. These people think they’re bullet proof and they believe their savior walks on water. Here’s Michael Cohen’s take on it.
Interesting that this event is going forward in Cullman. Maybe the MAGA herd is about to be culled? Not wishing them any bad luck. I don’t have to. These people take chances with their own lives that not even the best bookies in Vegas would lay odds on, it’s simply too extreme.

I have absolutely had it with the anti-vaxx crowd! Its time for EVERYONE to be vaccinated (the only exceptions being those who cannot for medical reasons)!

If I were any of the hospital personnel assigned to the event, I’d be taking plenty of pictures and then distributing them at the hospital with “Do Not Admit Under Any Circumstances” signs attached. Under the signs, I’d add something like “These folks chose to attend a mask-free event so let them live–or die–with the consequences.”
I know it’d go against all the rules and ethical behaviors of the medical profession but the medical community have been fighting incessantly with this pandemic and if people are still not willing to take care of themselves and act responsibly around others, then there should be no reason why medical professionals should put even more stress on themselves by helping blockheads and morons.
It also kind of puts a bit of a spin on the usual anti-abortion rhetoric regarding unwanted pregnancy. So many of those folks believe “They made the choice so let them deal with it but not with MY tax dollars!” so their “choice” should be met with the same attitude. (It’s like climbing into a big cat or bear enclosure at a zoo to take a selfie and being attacked, even killed as a result.)
It’s exactly the same for a kidney transplant, if they find out you’re still drinking, you’re off the list. Best to put the resources to where they’re more likely to work.
