The cantaloupe Caligula really stepped in it the other day when he looked heavenward and said, “I am the Chosen One, and I’m gonna take on China.” It would take godly intervention for a fat trust fund baby to take on 1.42 billion people but Trump assured us all the other day from the White House lawn that he had it covered.

Alas, he FINALLY managed to stir up the evangelicals with this remark. And you know he can’t afford to lose that portion of his base. But a few finally showed some backbone and  called their congress members and wrote op-eds.  One evangelical pastor, writing in the Washington post called his words “sacrilege.”

…one of Trump’s most disturbing steps came Wednesday, when the president, who claims to be a Christian, tweeted quotes of and therefore validated radio host Wayne Allyn Root’s words that “the Jewish people love [Trump] … like he’s the King of Israel. They love him like he is the second coming of God.”

Christians believe and profess that the only true “King of Israel” is God, as clearly stated inIsaiah 44:6, and that he sent his son, Jesus Christ, the Messiah, into this world. That makes the description of Trump as “the second coming of God” shocking, blasphemous and sacrilegious. […]

Trump is neither the “Second Coming of God” nor the “Messiah.” In repeating the profane quote, he gave a narcissistic endorsement and even thanked Root, a well-known conspiracy theorist, for his words.

Messianic claims are dangerous, because God does not share glory with anyone.

Woot! Watch out Donnie Dum Dum! This is how people get struck by lightning or wind up as pillars of salt — which the writer goes on to warn Trump in the next paragraph — with scripture.

In the New Testament chapter of Acts 12, Herod was called “God.” Herod’s response? He took credit. The Lord’s response? He sent an angel to kill Herod. In Herod’s case, the Bible doesn’t say he repeated the title — only that he allowed it to be spoken. Perhaps the president can learn from Herod’s mistake.

If I had to lay odds on what brought Trump to explain his idiot comments on Wednesday, I would say it was this piece, published in the Washington Post. And here is the best contrition that Trump came up with — he blamed somebody else. Jerome Powell was probably relieved that this time it wasn’t him.

Trump is right about one thing. Everything he says is a joke. Just not the funny ha ha kind, rather the pathetic flailing loser kind.

He’s got to make nice with the evangelicals and this isn’t going to do it. Evangelicals were already upset with him for saying “goddamn” in a recent rally in West Virginia. Trump uses the language of a thug in a barroom brawl. And the evangelicals are right about being upset. I’m upset with Trump’s comments, too but for a different reason. His scatology and sacrilege demean the office of president and demeaning that office demeans all of us.

  1. I hope this continues. There seems to be some pushback to his stupid lies lately. Now, if only some republicans would jump on board. (Which will never happen, who am I kidding)

    • I think he may have just run out of gas. It’s the same old bullshit that he’s always gotten away with and people are getting tired of it. Or, such is my hope. I never understood how his lies stood up for even a moment, but I’m glad to see the tide turning.

    • DID you see Maciak latest… He dates the #BeginningofEnd to Aug 23… good piece.. MY TWEET SHARE … w pic of Emperor With No Clothes
We are wishing all the crap would just stop for two minutes.
But it won’t. It never has.
      So what is different today?
      #Republicans.
Hold your heads, it’s going to get uglier. But mark your calendars. We began, today. https://tinyurl.com/y27tond3

  2. Of course, it wasn’t the suffering that he was inflicting on people who weren’t white, kids locked up in dog pens, farmers losing everything they had, coal miners dying from black lung or anyone not covered by health care. No, it was (cue Captain America clip) “LANGUAGE!”

But you know something? I’ll take it!

    • The hypocrisy is mind-boggling, I grant you that. I’ve thought exactly the same thing myself. What the man does reveals who he is. And what he says also reveals who he is. But I personally, will take ill-chosen words over vicious deeds, any day. Guess that’s why I’m not an evangelical.

  3. When I get up enough gumption, I’m going to watch Netflix “The Family.” (In a phucking christian cult for 15 years, things can be triggered.) Having said that, watching Joy in the AM this morning, they brought up this documentary. This group runs D.C. It’s about power. It will scare the shit out of you. The blurb I saw was enough. https://www.netflix.com/title/80063867
So don’t be surprised if evangelicals go back to adoring 45!

    • I’ll definitely check it out. I’ve been told “The Family” is scary. I’m going to watch it after I finish “The Loudest Voice” which is about Roger Ailes. You’ve got to see that one, too, if you haven’t yet. The last episode just aired August 4.

      • Gumption was found. Whooeey. Many correlations in just the first episode. Boys home, girls home. Nothing secular. No relationships (unless approved.) We did follow the whole scripture though.

    • I remember years ago them showing apt, building for Congress in the riches part of town going for cheap and Rachel Maddow doing a piece on it so I knew who they were and some of the horrible stuff they were doing all over the world in the name of god, I’m still having trouble watching 500 Nations. What they did here in the US in the name of there god. That’s another one of those to hard to watch. Truth is painful

  4. One of many annoying things about these ‘helicopter moments’, besides the insufferable gasbag himself, is you can’t hear the questions asked, just Herr Hindenburg’s noxious responses. The other thing I got to wondering listening to the copter in the background, these ‘moments’ keep getting longer and longer while the helicopter is sitting there running. How much is this costing us in fuel, not to mention the resultant pollution? Maybe they could shut down the engines while idjt is doing his song and dance. Or better yet, maybe anus lips could shut the hell up and just get on the damned bird.

    • Whatever happened to the daily White House Press briefings? If they are no longer being done, why do we have to pay for a “press secretary?” I need to just go to bed. I literally can’t handle one more idiotic second of this FUBAR administration and the GOP enabling of the madness.

    • The ‘Chopper Talk’ is intentional, so the anal polyp can just keep stumbling along and feign not hearing any question, or blow off the media because they always ask him such mean things. And because he’s such a prick.

  5. I grew up in church and boy has it changed. Had to leave . What ever happened to taking care of god children and we are god children. It’s make me feel like they are doing genocide again and that god will give them a pass. Boy I want to be wrong about this. I don’t want the measles blankets to come again because they can do it. Can we please wake up from this bad nightmare.

  6. The Tangerine Turdbucket is the pied piper of conmen, which is why the fugdamental preachers love him. With them, like him, it’s all about the money…
