Trailer trash with cash does better in the United States than it does in the world, it should come as no surprise. YouGov did it’s yearly poll on Most Admired Woman in the World and Most Admired Man. Michelle Obama got the number one spot in her category and Barack Obama came in second, behind Bill Gates. Melania Trump ranked 19th and Donald came in 14. Uh, the world is apparently not too impressed with the Trumps, whudda thot? The Hill:

Obama came out ahead of an array of high-profile women, besting Oprah Winfrey in second, actress Angelina Jolie, who came in third, and Queen Elizabeth II, fourth on the list.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton took the eighth place spot, ahead of Taylor Swift, Madonna and Ellen DeGeneres. First lady Melania Trump came in at number 19.

Former Microsoft CEO Bill Gates was named the most admired man on the planet, with former President Obama right behind him in the runner-up slot. Action movie star Jackie Chan, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Alibaba founder Jack Ma ranked third through fifth in the survey, respectively.

President Trump landed in 14th place, while Russian President Vladimir Putin was the 10th most admired man, according to those surveyed.

Even a Russian dictator is four slots ahead of the sitting *resident of the United States. Ronald Reagan has been rolling in his grave so much lately, that it would be a smart move to put pizza dough under him, and have something to show for it.

YouGov also did a survey of who the most admired people in the country are, and the Trumps fared much better there, although they still lose to the Obamas. Trump took second place to Barack Obama and Melania came in third, again behind Michelle and Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Maybe YouGov could do a survey of the Most Admired Man in Trump’s Room and see if he win that — although if Lindsey Graham or Mike Pence chance to drop by at the wrong moment, he still might lose. Must be hard for a guy who’s just in it for ratings and popularity, to find that the star that you replaced is still the star and you’re still a wanna be.

  1. Any thoughts on which one beating him made Trump angriest? That’s such a tough one. He got beat by the former president (again). Has there ever been a single poll of anything ever where Trump came out ahead. (Which reporter can we pay to ask him that that at a presser??)

On the other hand…Hillary beat him (again). Sheesh. I don’t know. I’m sure he smashed something, but I don’t know which one of them makes him smashier.

    • I think Obama beating him has got to rankle more. I can’t freaking believe that Putin ranked 10th — and he beat him, too. Now dictators are on the Most Admired list? The world has gone mad, truly.

      • I keep watching that video of him making a surprise appearance in the Chicago office of the Obama Foundation earlier this week, popping into a conference room where a group of young summer fellows were having a meeting. And it wasn’t just the excited shrieking. It was when he sat down at the conference table with them to chat and he talked about THEM and their value of the work THEY were doing. No matter how inappropriate to the situation, Trump always talks about about HIMSELF and what a great job HE is doing.

        • There’s no question that Obama sees the big picture and Trump only sees what’s in the mirror — coupled with his fantasy of what should be in the mirror. I am reminded of that Great Gatsby-esque portrait of him. He’s in love with an idealized version of himself that the rest of us don’t see, because we’re watching/listening to the actual buffoon.

    • Maybe some pollster needs to come at it from a different perspective:

“Who, among currently-living people, is the person you least admire?”

I’ve got a feeling Trump would be, far and away, the #1 choice.

I’ve also got a feeling he’d be gloating about coming in as #1 simply because he “won” the poll.

      • Great idea, and I agree with your analysis. He should get his wish. If a poll was worded, who is the worst president not only of this country, but anywhere, he would probably get that one as well.

  2. No surprise…I’ve long said that Trump’s getting into office has raised Barack Hussein Obama to maybe three steps behind Jesus Christ himself. And Michelle outdoes most “high class” women I know with the kind of poise and grace we’ve not seen since Jackie Kennedy.

    • Agree. Obama did great on his own, but the contrast with Trump puts him over the top. Michelle reminds me of Jackie insofar as she’s such a great speaker and a woman of depth and substance. This is what Melania can’t get — it’s not about just looking good. There needs to be a light on within.

      • She was a model – they aren’t expected to do anything except look good in whatever designer clothes they’re showing. (They aren’t expected to smile or look happy, either: they could be robots and it wouldn’t matter.)

    • It’s just another anomaly of Trumpworld. They broke the mold. I’m just hoping that we return to some kind of actual decorum and normalcy when this is over.

    • It’s way down from where a U.S. president and First Lady usually rank, but then nothing is normal about this current mal-administration.
