Sounds like this guy is tired of all the winning. Maybe he’s a worker at one of the manufacturing plants that Trump promised the moon to and then they all lost their jobs anyhow.
In any event, it is music to my ears “going straight Democrats.” Yeah, take a shot of that straight Democrats. It’s better than that Trump kool-aid you’ve been swilling. That stuff will kill you. Time for the national hangover to end and everybody to get better. I’ve been saying for two and a half years that watching the news is like a bad acid trip.
I would like to believe that this guy is one of millions. I just had to share it because it makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. If only, if only.
I’ve had bad trips that were better than this.

That’s gooood! Great as a matter of fact. I never was into hallucinogenics. The only times I’ve hallucinated were in connection with a medical detox from Xanax, a pill I never should have been prescribed, and that’s a long story. I don’t like hallucinating. And frankly, comparing the weirdness of the detox and this experience? I would say it’s even money — and the detox was very effing strange, trust me.
I suppose we shouldn’t complain about people who change their mind about Tr*mp, but dear Ghu, they shouldn’t have needed *more than two years* to figure it out.
I’m going to say better late than never and let’s just get their votes and get out of this.
For some people, yes, sadly, it DOES take that long to figure out the joke and that they’re the punchline.
Trump is no longer the shiney new object among low info independents……the curtain has been pulled back and the emperor has no clothes.
He can’t win in a two viable candidate race….,.his advisers are too afraid to fe tell him the truth…llkeeping him clueless …the fourth Reich will be as doomed as the third.
“Doomed” is the word I want to hear, predicting his chances of reelection. And there’s going to be tremendous clean up needed. As we speak, there are governmental functions, paperwork, all of it, going from bad to worse. That isn’t going to reverse itself overnight. The only reason the government is working at all is because there are career civil servants who take their oaths of office seriously, because it’s for damn sure their CIC does not.
To me, he was always doomed. The core lesson of his inauguration crowds flap was his hatred of objective reality when it’s telling him something he doesn’t want to hear. All his life, he’s occupied positions that allowed him to stay clueless far longer than was good for him. This’ll be just like one of his bankruptcies, only this time, not even the Russians may bail him out.
You make a good point, that Trump never really had to wake up and smell the coffee like the rest of us. He was sheltered, coddled. And even when he did declare bankruptcy, he was put on a “budget” of half a million dollars a month living expenses. The man is so totally different from you and I — and even more so from his followers. They think he loves them. He’s a germophobe and he hates poverty. He wouldn’t be in the same room with even one of the MAGAts if it wasn’t all about him.
Stuff like this does make me hopeful. Of course Trump has a core cult so broken and disillusioned that they HAVE to keep believing in him (fulfilling Santayana’s definition of a fanatic as someone who redoubles their efforts while losing sight of their goal). But grim day-to-day realities have a way of alienating you from the snake oil conmen like Trump push.
Grim day to day realities like Trump’s tariffs are the beginning of the economy cratering.

I would hunbly submit that there also some highly qualified and inspiring gay and trans Democrats. I hope he isn’t confining his votes to straight ones. /s

I’m thinking it doesn’t matter, though; once we’re done re-litigating busing — busing! — Trump can cruise to re-election.
Does no one remember the 85-15 polling against that absurd idea? Including a strong majority of blacks against it? I’m delighted it worked for Kamala Harris. But let’s try and keep a foot in the reality that is 2020 Amurrica.
More frustration: I’d bet the proverbial ranch that most folks ripping on Biden over the nonsense would spit nails if their little Sally or Billy had to take a bus ten miles to ANY other school with one a half-mile away.

Sorry, Nick but no. By 2024, we’re going to be in a VERY different place. At the risk of sounding terrible, how many of your generation are still going to be alive? It’s a number that’s dropping daily and I daresay a good chunk of Trump’s 2016 voters are gone in one way or another. I suspect that what happened to the Dems in 2016 is going to happen to the GOP in 2020. There will be no “back” to go back to.
Yeah but in 1972 we all said the same thing. “Wait until the olds die off.” Problem remains: then as now, not everyone felt/feels like we did or do. There are only “more if us” if that supposed “more of us” actually vote, and for Democrats (even those less-than-perfect ones).
Friendly reminder: this ain’t 1972 and it’s a very different America, as I said. What Reagan (or Nixon, if you prefer) ends with Trump. And it’ll take a bit for the right wingers to regroup, given the dearth of leadership, particularly YOUNG leadership.
