Like some others we hoped we’d never hear from again Sarah Palin has popped back up. She, like some seems to be Hell’s version of those prank birthday candles… You know, the ones where no matter how many times you blow them out they relight. Anyway, Palin’s back but at least this time in an attempt at a worthy cause. Trump’s post of him as ‘Jeebus healing the sick’ (with quite the group of onlookers) seems to have offended her Faux Christian sensibilities so she posted her own meme taking ‘No I wasn’t being Jesus – I was being a Doctor’ Trump to task.
That’s the gist of this short article from The Mirror US. You know all about the original Trump post which he reluctantly took down. We might never know but I’m willing to bet Trump himself got a call from multiple top Evangelical leaders telling him he’d gone too far. That there’s been a backlash from regular MAGAs all the way up to at least some GOP Congress Critters is out there publicly. Then there’s this:

On Tuesday, former-governor of Alaska Sarah Palin shared a meme of her own – an image of Jesus reaching out under the text “Alright. That’s enough. Give me the phone.” It comes after Trump made a disturbing sex comment on stage that silenced the audience.
Many (including me) have marveled over some of the former die-hard and well known supporters who’ve made it clear not just they that are done with Trump, but that they got suckered by him like so many others. MTG is probably the one who most regular MAGA goobers would think is most like them. I’m not so sure she’s converted all that many but I do truly believe she’s made some of them at least question whether Trump should get the unquestioning loyalty they’ve given him for so long.
Palin? She was MAGA Queen before there was MAGA. True trailer park trash but who turned into a political supernova. She’s old news now but popping up all of a sudden makes her the car accident people can’t seem to look away from as police slowly wave them past. You can read the linked article for some of the fun quips made about Palin speaking up but the one “Good one but I had no idea you were still relevant” stood out to me. Why?
Part of what fueled Palin’s rise was her connection with a group we don’t like to think about but there’s a lot of them and they will vote in droves sometimes. I’m referring to working class and struggling to stay out of poverty folks with wide swaths of rural America. More specifically I recall the damage Obama did to his own candidacy with a poorly worded line about them only having God and their guns. THAT cost him and big. I’m sure he didn’t mean to sound demeaning and in fact was trying to bridge a gap with a chunk of mostly white Americans who over and over vote against their own interests.
He blew it, and if you don’t think the Democratic Party overall has paid a price since you’re kidding yourself. Palin however resonated with these same people. She might have fallen from grace with the political and pundit class but I can’t help but wonder if a lot of the voters I just talked about haven’t wished she was still in the mix. They saw her as one of THEM because she was. She’d be the life of the party at any trailer park cookout in MAGA America. Even now.
That folks is why while your first reaction (like mine) is a version of the line from Poltergeist, she’s baaaaack I say don’t laugh or groan (or both) and move on. If this gets spread around enough an awful lot of otherwise uneducable MAGAs will “get” what she’s saying which is that Trump has lost it. It’s time to think past him. That’s the kind of thing Trump, already under siege on so many fronts doesn’t need someone who connects with the bottom rung (the broadest one) on the MAGA ladder better than him, in a way he can’t needs.
We are getting familiar with the mocking of Trump via “When you’ve lost (name person – MTG, Alex Jones, Megyn Kelly etc.)” talk. Now we can add Sarah Palin and she might matter more than anyone else. She was always a run-of-the-mill lower middle class MAGA, spitting distance from the trailer park. It was only through an incredible set of cirumstances she rose to become the Sarah Palin of political infamy. MAGA goobers might not get the “in the DNA” nuance be she always has been on of them and they know it.
So, when Sarah Palin turns on Trump yes, it’s bad news indeed for him.
Well color me disappointed. I’ve been waiting for a good piece from Denis to comment on (still waiting btw) and we get this cynical junk full of jabs at what you commies generalize all of us conservatives as, MAGA. Bravo on that. I feel like this new pessimistic, insulting Denis can really go places(not really). Anyway, it doesn’t matter who you think Trump has “lost”. It doesn’t matter what you fools think about U.S. military action around the world. Tell yourselves all the lies you want, the military & geopolitical strategy that you desperately try to convince people doesn’t exist is playing out as expected. Iran will soon realize they have no cards(like Trump said) and come back to the table to accept our terms. The straight will open under OUR terms and life will return to normal. You leftists can go back to hating America & rooting for our enemies but Trump will drag you along whether you like it or not.
