If someone wants to call me mean for enjoying Trump getting a thrashing from his MAGAs my response is one of the few times I’ll cite Melania – ‘I Don’t Care Do U?’ I’m sure Trump blows off the odd negative comment posted there – his MAGAs I assume have slapped down anyone who dared question their Turd God Emperor. However now it’s MAGAs and in large numbers who are taking him to task!
It’s not a secret that a lot of MAGAs are unhappy with their Trumpty starting a war in the middle east. He promised he wouldn’t go doing that type of thing. Alas they are gullible and keep believing he’ll keep his promises. They forgive him and forget. However his stonewalling on his promise to release the Epstein files hasn’t gone over well. It’s created no small amount of grumbling in MAGA world. Now he’s started a war with Iran and worse, “people say” (love using Trump’s pet expressions against him) he started the war to distract from Epstein. Worse for Trumpty-Dumpty is his war isn’t going well and his already low approval rating has dropped even more.
Even MAGAs who’ve forgiven Trump over and over realize two things – 1) The Epstein files that have been released contain too many redactions and there are several million DOJ is NOT releasing, and 2) Even if they (if only grudgingly) take him at his word about the Iran war being necessary they know it’s been both expensive (to the country overall and to them personally) and that it hasn’t gone well.
The typical MAGA has brain cells with plenty of empty space to bounce around in but it looks like with an increasing number of them those brain cells are clumping together – and forming a rational thought. At the same time some spinal tissue seems to be growing and the combination is resulting in something on Truth Social that might have aides trying to disable Trump’s phone so he can’t read what’s going on. From what this article from The Mirror US tells us a lot, a LOT of comments these days are openly critical of Trump. Citing reporting from the “failing” (according to Trump) NYT Iran has prompted a significant portion of critical posts on Truth Social vs. not nearly as much support at Trumpty wants to see on HIS site:
The review by The New York Times discovered that only a quarter of the comments left on Trump’s warning Tuesday morning that Iran’s “whole civilization will die” were supportive. And the president’s profanity-laced post on Easter Sunday, which included a mocking “Praise be to Allah,” drew hundreds of critical responses, the Times found.
The Times shared a number of comments posted by users who described themselves in various shades as being “anti-leftist,” “MAGA” or people who love their country and freedom. But many of these accounts, some of whom said they had voted for Trump three times, said his recent posts have made them rethink their support.
The NYT story is a day old and hidden behind a paywall now but while much of it isn’t included in outlet I already linked to you can see much more here at DNYUZ. It’s makes clear we aren’t talking about a handful, or even two or three dozen MAGAs calling Trump out on TS. A whole bunch of them are.
Thousands of users on the social media platform, which Mr. Trump created in 2022, have responded to the president’s drumbeat of posts with a mix of frustration, disbelief and outrage.
They have written that they feel betrayed by the expanding war in Iran and ashamed when Mr. Trump used an expletive on Easter to make demands of the Iranian government. Some were so perplexed by his military interventions that one declared they “make zero sense.”
The responses on Truth Social — numbering in the tens of thousands — offer a snapshot of a simmering criticism from the right that has intensified in recent weeks over Mr. Trump’s decision to go to war in Iran. While polling suggests that Republicans still broadly support the war, unease and anger are bubbling up on Mr. Trump’s own platform.
The NYT analysis (they really should take their own article out from behind the paywall) indicates over half of those that responded to Trump’s Tuesday warning that Iran’s “whole civilization will die,” were deeply critical of him talking that way. Again, compare this to what I already noted which is that only a quarter of comments were supportive of the war.
Sorry but I can’t help laughing about how this week Trump’s “safe space” isn’t so safe for him anymore. Think back. Trump got banned by Twitter by the original owner of the site. So he huffed and puffed and threatened to blow their house down. As far as he was concerned HE was the star of the platform and it wouldn’t be jack without him. Being Trump he decided he’d destroy Twitter by creating his own version and everyone on Twitter would follow him. Even better he’d make billions in the process!
As you know after all these years Trump’s dream of erasing Twitter from the internet and replacing it with HIS social media site was pretty much fantasy. At most he’s had about six million members. Not shabby except even with Elon buying Twitter and doing a great deal to ruin it that platform has over 550 MILLION members! Truth Social is a mosquito bit on on the ass of Twitter, or X or whatever the hell you want to call it. However Trump could at least console himself with his own site being a safe space where he would get the worship he believes is his birthright.
Not anymore! Nope, cracks have been forming in the wall that separates MAGAs from reality. Some have widened into openings that have allowed truth to surround MAGAs and some of has been seeping into their heads. This is perhaps the biggest example yet. If you check out the linked articles for specific comments it’s not just a case of people expressing disappointment but direct, blunt criticism directly to the flaming orange shaped human rectum known as Donald Trump. I love the thought of him headed into a weekend where he probably just wants to play golf (on our dime) and having this criticism from MAGAs on HIS freaking social media site stuck in his head.
Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise, among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. But, Denis. If the NYT did take the article from behind the paywall, how could the site make any money? Gotta think of those corporations and their profit margins being squeezed if they didn’t invoke “The Paywall.”
