Not that we needed any reminders of what a P.O.S. RFK Jr., Brainworm Bobby is and has been for most of his life. Still, even when family members are fighting with each other in moments of tragedy for a brief period they at least try to set feuds aside.  I know this from personal experience, more than once in fact starting with when I was 18. Being civil doesn’t always work, but most people at least try. Not RFK Jr.

To remind everyone is equally famous and more respected cousin Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg lost her 35 year old daughter died on Dec. 30.  As reported by People it turns out Kennedy couldn’t even be bothered to offer a token “sorry about what happened with Tatiana” to Caroline:

When asked if he and Caroline, 68, have been in touch after Tatiana died at age 35 in late December following an acute myeloid leukemia diagnosis, RFK Jr. said, “Not recently.” (The Kennedy family members have a fractured relationship.)

“Everybody’s praying for them,” the politician, who attended the event at the Chaparral Country Club alongside his wife, Cheryl Hines, added. The pair was presented with an award at the third annual gala.

I call bullshit on that last part and here’s why. As noted above there are fractures in the Kennedy family over RFK Jr.  He’s managed over time to alienate himself from most of the other members of the Kennedy family. When you think how they’d closed ranks and stuck together through some major scandals over the decades it says something (not good) that Jr. has turned himself into a black sheep. An outcast. Yes, both Tatiana Schlossberg and her mother Caroline were openly and harshly critical of him. My oldest sister sure as hell was of me (and my then wife) after our ‘Granny’ died on the same date back in 1990. Her attacks had begun to extend to trying to harm relationships with my friends back home and even damage reputations.

Still, I at least tried. When I walked up to her and her husband outside the chapel at the funeral for Granny’s viewing I said something along the lines of being sorry – she would be missing Granny as much as me. Connie quite deliberately slowly turned her back to me!  Her husband, a minister who would do the service at graveside sadly shook his head. He put his hand on her shoulder and whispered to her but she refused to have anything to do with me. THAT seems to be the same thing RFK has done with his cousin. That’s bad, but it gets worse.

RFK Jr. didn’t simply make a point of an intentional display of indifference. Oh hell no. He went out of his way to make a pointed ‘F**k You!’ to Tatiana and her mother, and the rest of the family:

Members of the Kennedy dynasty mourned the loss of Tatiana during a funeral held in New York City on Jan. 5. Immediate family — including Tatiana’s parents and siblings, Rose Schlossberg and Jack Schlossberg — attended, as did her husband, George Moran, and their two young kids, son Edwin and daughter Josephine.

RFK Jr. was not among the large crowd that gathered at The Church of St. Ignatius of Loyola in the Upper East Side. That day, he instead rolled out his latest change to vaccine mandates for children, marking a major shift in the nation’s public health policy that reduces the number of vaccines from 17 to 11.

You see what I mean? RFK Jr. got criticized by his relatives including his far more liked and respected cousin, and her daughter who tragically died young.  As so often happens with his boss, Trump, the criticism was deserved and that made it hurt all the more.  His anti-vax stance and other measures he’s taken that have harmed health care in this country, and let’s face it cost countless people their lives. Given his decades long crusade against vaccines how many refused COVID shots because they’d been conditioned by him to not trust those vaccines?  How many people died from other, conventional illnesses because hospitals were full of COVID patients? RFK Jr. bears a great deal of blame for hundreds of thousands of deaths. His feelings got hurt because some of his family called him out on his bullshit.

So he made a point of putting out a major announcement, one that he knew would draw criticism from his family on the very day of Tatianna’s funeral!  THAT folks was a pointed ‘F**k You to Caroline, Tatiana and the rest of the family.

Even if his heart wasn’t in it, someone who wants to be seen as a leader could have and should have mustered a brief message. Something like “I know we’ve had our differences, that you and Tatianna have been critical but you’re both in my prayers. She had so much life ahead. Please pass along my condolences to her husband.”  But the sonovabich couldn’t even muster something like that. No, he skipped the funeral and engineered an upstaging of it with a major policy announcement.  We already knew he was an a$$hole. Turns out he’s an even bigger and nastier one than we knew.

Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise, among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
