The nation recently saw President Donald Trump bring about his most politically dangerous scandal yet in its handling of the Epstein files through its shameful opposition to release of the Epstein files, forcing many to conclude that Trump is personally involved in some Epstein matters, and yet the strength which Trump opposed such revelations would likely be dwarfed by the administration’s opposition to Congress investigating Trump’s health and possible evidence of cover-ups of serious health concerns including general cognition and mental hygiene. The self-evident fact seems to be the basis for Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries’ call for the House to do just that, use its oversight responsibilities to investigate Trump’s health and possible fraud in disclosures. It is unlikely to come about before 2026, but it isn’t impossible and truly does seem to present a threat to Trump matched only by the Epstein files.
According to a report in The Daily Beast, Jeffries believes that such an investigation is warranted due to the White House’s inability to come anywhere close to clean on the duty to inform the public. From the report on the matter:
Hakeem Jeffries wants Congress to bring the same investigative rigor to Donald Trump’s ailing health that it brought to the Epstein Files. The 55-year-old Democratic House Minority Leader demanded that the House Oversight Committee look into the Executive Branch’s mixed messaging on the 79-year-old president’s medical mysteries while speaking to influencer Aaron Parnas on Friday.
One can see where it is that the House could trip the White House up on the issue in the use of “mixed messaging,” which seems self-evident. It was recently reported in the Wall Street Journal that Trump got a CT Scan (Not an MRI) to check for vascular heart disease, and thus, there was serious mud thrown on the issue when Trump talked about an “MRI” in the same general conversation in which he was bragging about cognition tests. This “mixed messaging” does seem to be an area that could justify oversight in contrast to a responsible White House that might put out a report such as “Doctors are concerned about the president’s cardiac status, which they believe requires close monitoring but positively conclude with medical certainty that the president is fully capable of exercising office.” That would be a responsible report.
It seems we know that if there is one thing that we can count upon in this administration, it is that it will not be responsive or responsible in its reporting.
“I don’t believe that this is something that should wait until the American people give Democrats the majority in the aftermath of the November election later on this year,” he added. “Congress, in its role as a separate and coequal branch of government, should make sure the Administration comes clean as it relates to the President’s ability to continue to do the job at the level the American people deserve.”
This is adorable in its earnestness. That Congress is a “coequal branch” with the presidency. Of course, we know that Congress IS a coequal branch, indeed the “first” branch set out in Article ONE, the body that makes the law. This maxim is obviously on paper only, an ideal, never further away in that the Trump administration has shot out of the gun at making Congress all but irrelevant, even threatened to all but ignore some judicial decisions, making the Article III branch almost as weakened. But the principle does remain strong enough that Congress could actually do such an investigation even though the president’s health has never before been a Congressional concern, as it was assumed that the White House would responsibly address its own issues. The idea of the White House being “responsible” is almost as adorable as the coequal branch. It is also just as tragic.
But all of that leads to the possibility that the proposal is not entirely impossible, there are a few GOP Representatives of late who are more interested in some bipartisanship (As seen in the Epstein matters, and certain investigations into “UAP” phenomena – actually, in the last four years, taken extremely seriously by powerful politicians on both sides, from Schumer, to Rubio, to Burchett, and Luna, this is now actually a very serious topic if still under the surface, and one both sides have worked together on), it would seem that Trump’s health is a similar area where both sides might have some interest in a few crossovers, enough to at least start the investigation.
The Republicans on the Committee could come out and say “Obviously, the White House has already told us the results, and so of course we would just be affirming what we have heard and thus put this issue to bed… ” All while knowing that the Trump White House has definitely been evasive and possibly fraudulent on the matter and using it as a stick to at least somewhat fight back on the whole “co-equal branch” thing.
It most certainly would be on the table should the Democrats win the House back in 2026, an outcome that is near-assumed at this point, and one might think responsibly so were it not for the manipulation of the vote by GOP voting restrictions, and even their willingness to abide by a Democratic sweep, one could see the Trump administration simply declaring the elections to have been “stolen,” and thus of no force and effect and they would wholly ignore the House post-2026. Even though such a result seems all but impossible, it is also all but impossible to see the Trump administration tolerate any political punchback, even if clearly delivered by the American people.
So an investigation into Trump’s health does present an intriguing possibility. If the committee uncovers extremely serious health issues, which is entirely possible, though not guaranteed, or real false statements and fraud, it presents a powerful possible countermeasure that could sap the White House of some political power needed to contest or ignore the 2026 outcome.
It is both an extremely powerful proposal and one very much worth keeping an eye on. Why wouldn’t Jeffies lead by saying, “I am sure that the President has extremely powerful genes that keep him in tip-top health, so wouldn’t he be excited to share his records pointing to such remarkable genes and fitness for the world to see his incredible genes and health?” It would sure put Trump in a corner.
We have recently seen how devastating such corners can be.

Zoomers, we are always in need of donations. We work hard to get you analysis that you will not find in the mainstream media, but all media have been hit hard since the big companies have gobbled up and monopolized commentary. I’m not going to hold my breath waiting.
I don’t blame you at all, obviously.
However, this is one call where the threat alone seems to have real political value. Keeping Trump’s health in the news hurts him considerably. any means to keep the issue alive and him on the defensive is a good one IMO.
