At one point I might have found this shocking, amusing certainly, but right now all this does is speak to the moral and intellectual rot of the Republican party. They created Crazy Town back in 2016 with the nomination of Donald Trump. Crazy Town was the moniker that John Kelly used to describe the White House during his tenure there as Chief Of Staff. That was when he decided (but didn’t inform the world until much later) that Jared and Ivanka were “playing government,” a phrase similar to what Mark Kelly said recently about Pete Hegseth, “He’s like a 12-year-old running around on the stage playing Army.” Is this cosplay, to impress the MAGA base, the crazy statistics you’re about to read?

When will the GOP live down the crazy? The GOP has always had its fringe elements, every political party does, but in this case the fringe crazies have taken over the asylum and that’s been the case for the past ten years. And make no mistake, nobody is more clueless about where the GOP goes in a post-Trump world than the Republican party of right now.

On a certain level, they think they can keep MAGA rolling along. They can’t. MAGA, the true *base* is Donald Trump’s personality cult. It turns out to vote for him, it goes to sleep when he’s not on the ticket. Color a large percent of them gone when Trump is gone.

That’s the main reason for the Trump 2028 fantasy, that somehow, some way, Trump is going to be good to milk for many more years to come. Do away with that fable, the old man who falls asleep at his own cabinet meetings will do well to make it through this term.

QAnon theories reign supreme amongst the MAGA cult, PizzaGate, adrenochrome, all that. The GOP is now the party of tinfoil hats and conspiracies.

History will not be kind. I’m sorry I won’t be here in fifty years to see some of the movies that will be made about this era. They will be howlingly funny and actors who are now young children or yet unborn will be taking home Oscars portraying the characters that you and I watch now and roll our eyes at.

Such is the way of history. Things happen to shock us, Watergate for example, and half a century later it becomes the stuff of first class satire. If you have not yet seen the miniseries, White House Plumbers, put that on your Xmas gift list to yourself. And if you’re a young person reading this blog, rememeber my words around the year 2075.

  1. Yep “… The GOP is now the party of tinfoil hats and conspiracies.…” and headed by a cult leader, who, in reality, is nothing better than a low crude metaphor; basically a daily incontinent vulgarity, grifting off the adoring cookers, flat earthers, andro whatever’s, conspiracy theorists, anti vexers, brain worm harborers etc., etc., This low crude metaphor has endowed upon them a time limited and whacked out political legitimacy. When he fully implodes and flat lines, surely they will too. This is because one can’t exist without the other – they’re oddball symbionts that actively contribute to sustaining and securing each other’s political co-existence. Arrr yes, but what they failed to grasp is that this hand-in-hand love fest flirt of theirs has a ‘use by date’ stamped on its underbelly, and also comes with no viable or rational plan B. So Mr low crude metaphor of daily incontinent vulgarity, along with your fawning brown-nosing GOP crazy whatever’s, good bloody riddance.
