This is shocking but not the least bit surprising. Kristi Noem has been recruiting a lot of people for ICE and they are ludicrously underqualified. This goes a long way to explain all the pyrotechnic eff ups that we’ve seen so far, with ICE agents breaking into the wrong house in the middle of the night to arrest the wrong family, or ICE agents grabbing American citizens off the streets because they happen to have brown skin or have an Hispanic surname. This article from the Daily Mail is a real mindblower.

The Trump administration’s frantic push to hire 10,000 new deportation officers by year’s end has spiraled into what insiders describe as a national embarrassment – with lax vetting and a signing bonus of up to $50,000 luring in a wave of woefully unfit recruits.

An exhaustive Daily Mail investigation has exposed how Immigration and Customs Enforcement has lowered standards so dramatically that the new cohort now includes recent high school graduates and applicants who can ‘barely read or write’ as well as those who lack basic physical fitness and even have pending criminal charges.

Most of the new hires in the $30 billion initiative are retired law enforcement who are receiving virtual training and being repurposed for desk duty.

Meanwhile, total novices are being fast-tracked into the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Georgia, where instructors have been left astounded at the levels of incompetence.

‘We have people failing open-book tests and we have folks that can barely read or write English,’ one Department of Homeland Security (DHS) official told the Daily Mail.

‘We even had a 469-lb man sent to the academy whose own doctor certified him not at all fit for any physical activity.’

Insiders say the vetting process has been so rushed that officials didn’t even wait for drug test results to come back before hiring recruits and flying them off to Georgia, only to discover afterward that tests came back positive.

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem told President Trump on Tuesday that the department will hire its 10,000th ICE officer within ten days. The department had no further comment to the Daily Mail on the story.

A 469 lb. man in a cop’s uniform. You would never see that in any normal law enforcement body, but you’re seeing it in ICE. The incompetence of this body is beyond anything that we’ve ever seen in government, and you know that cynical old adage, “Good enough for government work.” It will soon be replaced, I predict, by the adage, “Good enough for ICE,” which will come to mean if you can chew gum and walk at the same time, you are qualified for ICE.

  1. So Trumpler’s private secret army is now up to his desired 10,000-strong level. If most of the members are unfit for anything resembling normal military tasks, that’s ok: all they have to do is swagger around in gangs, armed and masked, bullying people Trumpler doesn’t like. Don’t be too surprised if and when they meet other armed gangs and come off second best.
