This is what happens when you’re old and dimwitted. But at least here Trump is attempting to make a joke, however feeble. This isn’t like his last public appearance at Mar-a-Lago where he was vilifying a reporter for being “stupid, a stupid person,” when all the woman did was quote facts from Trump’s own Department of Justice about the vetting of the Afghan immigrant currently in custody for the death of one and shooting of another National Guard member. So that was Trump being normal and this is Trump being “charming.”

We don’t even want to think what “looking gay” means. It was a stupid remark but of course his cult members laugh. That’s why the old Catskills comic comes back to Mar-a-Lago so often, is so everybody will laugh at his jokes. He’s bored with the White House, that’s why he keeps falling asleep in the Oval Office.

And “we did great with the gay population?” Seriously? Would you believe that Trump got 12% of the gay vote as opposed to 86% for Kamala Harris? If that’s doing great, I would hate to know what getting your ass resoundingly kicked looks like.

Former President Donald Trump defeated Vice President Kamala Harris to become the next U.S. president, NBC News projected, but he didn’t do so with the help of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender voters.

LGBT voters shifted even more solidly into the Democratic camp this year, according to the NBC News Exit Poll. Harris led President-elect Trump 86% to 12% among LGBT voters, the poll found. That’s a 15-point change from 2020, when Trump won 27% of the LGBT vote against Biden.

Although Republican vice presidential candidate Sen. JD Vance predicted that he and Trump would win the “normal gay guy vote,” the GOP presidential ticket captured fewer than 1 in 5 LGBT male voters, though that figure could also include bisexual and transgender men. Trump’s support among LGBT female voters was even more tepid, at 8%. White LGBT people went solidly for Harris over Trump by 82% to 16%, though Harris’ margin was even bigger among LGBT voters of color at 91% to 5%.

Most LGBT voters said they’d be either “excited” (39%) or “optimistic” (43%) if Harris were elected president. By contrast, 62% of LGBT respondents said they’d be “scared” if Trump won.

I wonder if Trump has ever even met any gay people beyond Ric Grenell and Scott Bessent. Maybe Grenell was in the audience saying, “We’re over here.” Maybe he should have said, “Help, help, we’re over here,” because if you’re a gay person in MAGA country, you need help.

Let’s see which polls from where Trump decides to fabricate next. When he said, “We did great with the gay population,” it’s not any portion of the gay population which NBC could find, that’s for sure.
