Aww. So John Bolton woke up this morning, looked out his living room windows, and saw the Huns outside lighting torches before they started sacking his castle. Personally, I felt the schadenfreude most satisfying.
Let’s get this straight. As my beloved mother used to say, What goes around, comes around. John Bolton is a strutting, arrogant, chickensh*t authoritarian. And he always has been. Bolton played his Judas ewe part for Cheney nicely in getting us into the Iraq war. And not only in his official words when a part of the Bush or Trump administrations, but even in his own personal writings, he has espoused many of the authoritarian proclivities Traitor Tot espouses, one of which just came around to bite him in the ass today.
When I got up this morning and went into the living room to the news that Bolton was getting a free FBI housekeeping special, I a) couldn’t have cared less, and b) wasn’t in the slightest bit surprised. Being an authoritarian pr*ck, Bolton has always shared Traitor Tot’s view that with authority comes insulation. Bolton is of the Roger Rabbit Stone GOP variety. He cherishes making enemies, and when you do, you had better have something in your back pocket to protect yourself with. Also, in his free time, of which he’s had tons, Bolton fancies himself quite the writer. Kind of a talentless GOP Bob Woodward. Who knows what’s stuck to his slimy fingers on the way out of one administration office or the other.
But before we all run out and start cutting $10,000 checks to the ACLU, let’s take a breath and put this in perspective.
First of all, as far as I can divine, we have no idea of what the FBI was looking for today. Normally search warrants are not unsealed to the public until the arraignment, if there is one. Bolton is a whack job. This could be some form of criminal wrongdoing having nothing to do with his public service.
Second, this is not a punitive FBI hit job. Sleazeball Ca$h Patel didn’t get up this morning and decide to spoil Bolton’s day. In fact, Petty Ca$h should have nothing to do with it. It would have to been an AUSA from Pam Blondie’s crew that signed off on the FBI seeking a search warrant, and a federal judge that approved it. Nobody is going to go running around perp walking John Bolton anytime soon, until a federal prosecutor obtains an indictment. And good luck with that.
Which is why, if I’m Bolton, I’m not exactly pissing my pants right now. If in fact this turns out to be Trump retaliation for Bolton slamming Traitor Tot after leaving the administration, then that’s highly likely to be all it ever comes to.
Because the DOJ under Trump’s paranoid watch has a piss miserable track record in major cases. Trump had a Special Counsel that spent five freakin’ years investigating the origins of the Trump-Russia case, and after millions of dollars, came up offer in criminal prosecutions. Another Special Counsel spent years investigating Hunter Biden, and he f*cked up the indictment and plea deal so badly the case had to be dropped, and picked up by another district with an AUSA who had his head out of his ass.
I’ll believe this is a serious case when I see an indictment, and an overview of the government’s case. The El Pendejo Presidente’s DOJ exists for one reason, and one reason only. To harass and intimidate his enemies. That’s not to say that if I’m Tubby the Ewok, or even lickpenny Pence, that I’m not looking over my shoulder, and having fireplace burning parties. But as with Bolton, even if they go down, it’s highly unlikely they’ll ever see the inside of a courtroom.
Because that’s the problem. Intimidation requires only a show of force, and an abuse of power. But even today, in order to obtain a conviction, it requires evidence and facts. which is something that the Palm Beach Barbie DOJ is totally incapable of producing.
