Most men do not feel comfortable talking to teenage girls without her having a parent in the conversation. It appears that Donald Trump is not “most men” because he was disappointed that he ran into an Epstein “employee” who was too “old” – her early 20s. Trump sounded surprised that she was not sixteen years old. If all of this sounds both wholly cringeworthy and yet entirely believable from the man who once bragged that he would walk through the dressing room of the Ms. Teen USA pageant while they were dressing, describing himself as being around “all these beautiful women,” (Kids!), then it makes the segment of 60 Minutes Australia that much more important to watch. The show interviewed Maria Farmer, the first woman to come forward with charges against Epstein, and she told her story about how she met Donald Trump. It is bad.
As summarized by Radar Online:
Farmer told 60 Minutes Australia she worked for Epstein in 1995 and was summoned to his Manhattan office late one night. There, she encountered Trump, whose behavior startled her. “It was really strange,” Farmer reminisced. “He stood hovering and smirking. Like all-knowing. Like Omniscient. And (he) grinned. Like a Cheshire grin.”
When Epstein came out to welcome Trump, he laughed and said ‘”Oh, no, Maria. She’s not here for you.’ Just like that. He emphasized “She’s not here for you.'”
Farmer said her boss escorted Trump into another room, and as he shuffled past, she added: “Trump utters under his breath, he mutters, ‘Oh, I thought she was 16,’ and I thought that was just really weird.”
The last part, the “just really weird” part, is worth a ton of attention. Farmer, having the benefit of actually being over 20 at the time (We all, men and women, mature a lot in those years), likely instinctively knew she was in the presence of a predator. Perhaps so would a sixteen-year-old; it is hard to tell. And, to be sure, it is very weird. Someone has to explain how it is that grown men in their late 40s come to be in the presence of anyone believed to be even near 16.
We know Epstein’s story. He was around her to rape her. Apparently, Trump knows at least that much. We knew that; now there is a witness. Why would he think that Epstein would bring a 16-year-old if he didn’t know that Epstein raped such kids? The first question most men would ask is “Where are your parents?” Or something related to what she was doing out with these men.
Watch the interview; one can feel that she remains traumatized by the entire thing. Of course, she went on to be assaulted by Epstein, even being of age. (And can we stop pretending that even though it’s technically legal, that there is anything “okay” about men in their late 40s even dating women who are 20-22? There is nothing there except using someone for sexual pleasure, and that’s creepy under any circumstances, never mind assault.)

Those of us with daughters who are 17 years old feel especially infuriated by this. Donald Trump thought that a girl with Epstein (at 9:00 p.m.) was 16 years old, and not only didn’t help her but seemed disappointed that she was indeed older. That is a predator, even though Trump didn’t touch Farmer – Epstein wouldn’t let him “have” her. It is like she was a product of some kind.
One supposes that it is that very characterization that sums up sex-trafficking at its most basic level – moving products around for men’s pleasure. Kids. I believe Farmer, and it seems that Trump knew the situation all too well and believed that Epstein trafficked those kids. He knew. At the very very least, he knew and did nothing. And this is the same guy who wrote a birthday letter mentioning secrets, never aging, and had a nude girl drawn on it. When will people finally accept the obvious?
