The ever-unhappy Donald Trump is furious over the fact that the media, even Fox News, has been almost uniformly reporting that his Anchorage meeting with Vladimir Putin was an abject failure. None of this is surprising. Trump is never happy with any coverage that is in any way critical. What is somewhat surprising is that Trump believed the meeting to be worth the risk even if he came away with nothing, not even a ceasefire, never mind anything permanent. He should have been better prepared for the aftermath or, even better, have had things settled even prior to the meeting, leaving nothing to chance. Still, he is raging over what he sees as totally unfair coverage that fails to adequately set forth his achievement. Trump posted to Truth Social:
“It’s incredible how the Fake News violently distorts the TRUTH when it comes to me. There is NOTHING I can say or do that would lead them to write or report honestly about me. I had a great meeting in Alaska on Biden’s stupid War, a war that should have never happened!!!”
And right there, Trump gives the game away as to why he will never get “good coverage” on this matter and, much more unfortunately, why he will likely never get a good deal for the Ukrainian people. He calls this “Biden’s war” after meeting with the international butcher, Putin, who is the one who unilaterally started the killing, including targeting innocent civilians. This is not “Biden’s war,” but it could have been Trump’s peace, had he had the strength to strong-arm Putin into a ceasefire and possible long-term agreement. As per usual, Trump reserves his anger for Americans who fail to adequately support him and not the real murderer, saying everything.
“If I got Russia to give up Moscow as part of the Deal, the Fake News, and their PARTNER, the Radical Left Democrats, would say I made a terrible mistake and a very bad deal. That’s why they are the FAKE NEWS! Also, they should talk about the 6 WARS, etc., I JUST STOPPED!!! MAGA”
Actually, none other than Hillary Clinton said that she believes Trump should get the Nobel Peace Prize if he stopped this war. Shocking though it may seem to Trump, many people in this nation still feel united over larger causes, ending a horrible war being just one of them. This self-obsession with his own coverage of his own failures simply tells us what we already know. He should be angry at Putin for getting red carpet treatment while giving up nothing. Instead, he would rather hammer the homegrown media and its account of the meeting. Same as it ever was.
Of course, given the baseline, none of this surprises anyone. It does go to show Trump’s fundamental weakness when it comes to the international scene. Putin knew that he didn’t have to give anything to Trump – he would be free from blame under any circumstances. It is President Zelenskyy, coming on Monday, who will most likely be on the receiving end of Trump’s wrath, even when Zelenskyy has far more legitimate reasons to continue on in defending his country.
So in a way, Trump brings all this on himself. If he wants less criticism, then he needs to make this less personal. It cannot be about a trip to Stockholm for him, but rather some relief for villagers in the Ukrainian east. Of course, such a realization goes counter to everything known about Trump – everything is ultimately about him and only him.
And that’s why the media will continue to hammer home an inconvenient truth. He can’t end this war when his own glory is his only priority.

The spelling reference you made reminds me of an old racist joke about getting into heaven. (Racists would laugh their asses off – decent people would see a lesson in it)
Anyway three guys show up outside the gates of heaven. The first one is of Italian descent and St. Peter asks him about his life. He talked about his faith and the good things he’d done – and having to put up with prejudice being called Dago and Wop and he must have Mafia connections. St. Peter tells the man he’s aware he’d lived a good life and that he wouldn’t have to put up with the unkind comments in heaven. All he had to do was spell the word dog and he could enter. The man quickly says D O G and the gates open.
The second man goes through the same thing, only he’s of Polish heritage and he recounts all the Polack joke he had to put up with. When asked to spell dog he does so and the gates open.
The third man is black and also describes his life. He said he too was a man of faith who tried hard to live by the teachings of Jesus. Although he was of only moderate intelligence he worked hard and earned a decent living, gave much to his church and community but at work and places outside his community had to put up with being called the n-word, being accused of being lazy, getting privileges because he was black even though he’d had to work twice as hard as white people to attain what he did, etc. St. Peter assures him there’s no racism in heaven. All he had to do was spell CHRYSTANTHEMUM and he could come in!
I recount this because it’s easy for me to imagine Trump showing up at the Pearly Gates and as he walks up to St. Peter loudly bitching about not already being inside enjoying himself at his magnificent Trump Tower – Heaven. And that he’s the greatest most awesome person who ever walked the face of the eart. St. Peter however has his number and knows how Trump will answer the entry question: He interrupts Trump and says look, I’ll make this simple. Just prove to me you aren’t a complete moron and spell dog. Then Trump, being Trump launches into a word-salad about his vocabulary and having ‘all the best words, amazing words and how many words he’d created that were perfect, going on and on as only Trump can with completely nonsensical bullshit.
And St. Peter smiling as he tells Trumpty to STFU and enjoy his ride. Trump asks what ride he’s talking about and as an elevator magically appears St. Peter says, shoving him in “Your ride on this. Down to HELL!”
maybe he could tell the media, at least in general terms, what he believes he accomplished.
His rage is pure Trumpian projection. He’s seen how ass-whipped he looked when he arrived back in DC and knows the whole effing world saw it too. He’s angry at himself for not even being able to summon up even a tiny bit of normal, much less bravado when he knew damn well the cameras would be on him. He’d spent a very long flight wallowing in his solitary pity party and couldn’t break out of his funk to spend a minute at least TRYING to put on a brave face!
Seeing the coverage on TV and images in publications I’ll bet (as I noted last night) he started having flashbacks to that dejected return from Tulsa in 2020 and how he never was able to overcome that in so many people’s minds AND it being a factor in getting his ass kicked by Biden.
The RAGE is because he’s angry at himself. So now he’s doing what he always does when he f**ks up/fails – projecting onto others.
The worst part of this for him is he can rant all he wants but the ONE part of his sick and twisted mind that’s still almost as functioning as it used to be is his savviness when it comes to his image. There is NO WAY he can spin this as having been a ‘perfect’ meeting where he showed complete mastery over the situation and Putin. He KNOWS it. So he’s ranting and raving and of course making himself look that much worse.
Dementia rises again. It’s Putin’s war but in 47’s feeble, demented brain he calls it Biden’s war.
Such a pitiful, thin-skinned and petty little man. He stains the world with his verbal toxins. As a person, he is shallow, fallow and hollow. Our country is in deep, deep do-do as those who took an OATH to our Constitution follow an oath to destroy our republic. Trump is cited as an operative for Putin/Russia.
