As Dictator Donald gets ready to fly off to Alaska tomorrow to wreak havoc with foreign policy, he goes there with the worst polls not only of his own career but of any president at this stage of a term in history. The latest Pew Research poll has Trump losing support in all demographics and even amongst non-voters in 2024. Non-voters are the most politically tuned out group in this country — but he’s lost support there, too, to the tune of 13%. That is a lot. Plus, Trump has lost support amongst Blacks and Hispanics and men, three demographics that he bragged about gaining support with in 2024. Maybe then, but not now. Now it’s all going sideways.
According to the new Pew Research poll, Trump is even losing the support of the people who voted for him, and people who didn’t vote at all:
The vast majority of Trump’s 2024 voters continue to approve of his job performance – but that share is down to 85% from 88% in June and 95% in the weeks after his inauguration.
32% of 2024 nonvoters now approve of Trump’s job performance – down from 36% in June and 45% at the beginning of his term.
The fact that Trump is down ten points with his own voters, and 13 points with people who don’t vote, who are some of the most politically tuned-out people in the country, is especially telling.
To get a true sense of how deeply Trump’s unpopularity runs, look at his approval ratings across all ages and demographics:

Trump’s base has been Republicans, white men, and voters with high school diplomas or less. Trump is now at a net double-digit negative with men, and those with a high school education or less.
“I love the uneducated,” Trump used to bray. Well, Donald, that may be the case. But they don’t love you back, it looks like.
And the sublime irony of this is that Trump and his cohorts go around boasting of their “mandate.” No. They have no mandate. A 1.5% win in a year when a lot of Democrats stayed home because they felt betrayed by Joe Biden being pressured to withdraw, is not a mandate. It’s a skin of the teeth victory.
If Trump had any actual brains, he would see this for what it is, and endeavor to get as much non-Republican support as humanly possible. But he has no brains and in his delusional mind he’s got terrific polls.
Wait until next month’s polls. They should be a real doozy since people are now having to go in debt in order to send their kids back to school in a few weeks. The awful reality of Trump in office is beginning to dawn.
I do not pretend to have any objective view of what the electorate was thinking last November. But at this point I’m beginning to think that the late stage aborting of Joe Biden left people with a sense of voting for the devil you know as opposed to the devil you don’t. I think that may be what gave Trump his marginal victory. And now having him back in office is turning out as horribly as we all predicted it would last year.
I guess America has to learn the hard way. And that is indeed what is happening. And it’s only been seven months. Feels like seven years, yes, I know.

I’m not sure about your “devil you know” theory, Ursula. I suspect the reality overall was that same old American devil: bigotry. In Kamala’s case, bigotry on two potent fronts: race and gender. Too many people, including (stupifyingly) POCs and women, voted for an incompetent, criminal white man rather than a highly qualified black woman. That sad story runs through so many of the mistakes this nation has made.
Polls matter…why? The fix is in…dictators rule by fear and force. What the peasants want means NOTHING. Ask the citizens of Russia, N.Korea, China, Saudi Arabia, Hungary, Phillipines, etc. Trump has done what democrats refused to do to save our democracy, refuse to give up, RECOGNIZE WHAT NEEDED TO BE DONE…AND DO IT. Prepare for the suspension of voting due to a trumped up ‘national emergency’ if it comes to him feeling it slipping away. Exhibit one: Washington DC. Just a trial balloon. We wanted a traitor criminal…that’s what we’ve got. By the way Amerika…go phuck yourself. You forgot to read the inscription over the door to HELL…Abandon hope all ye who enter here.
