Now I Know Why The GOP Is Worried About 2026. And It’s Only Going To Get Worse

Another day, another poll. And they’re starting to have almost the same soothing regularity as a lullaby. This one dealt with Traitor Tot’s job approval rating, but again, as always, the Devil is in the cross tabs.

Trump’s approval rating can be defined in two words dog sh*t. His job approval rating is like a miserable -12, and in one poll he was approaching his worst approval rating ever, rivaling the weeks just before his 2020 loss to Biden.

But step past that headline. In every category listed, from the economy to immigration, from foreign affairs to lawmaking, he is underwater. And I mean underwater by double digits. His Big beautiful Bill is a nightmare -21. Immigration, his signature issue is like -14. His handling of Iran is something like -12, and his handling of Israel and Gaza is even worse. And his handling of the Epstein crisis is a truly mind boggling -79. And that is not a typo, he’s at 11-89.

Look, I get it, I know. The natural inclination is a mammoth yawn and a rousing Who Cares?! After all, Traitor Tot is already a lame duck, and the other leg is being fitted for a cast. What does he care? He’s one-and-done. But this is what you pay me for. Never lose sight of this one simple fact. Trump is MAGA, and after all, MAGA is the fount from which all good things flow for the GOP.

And right now, the MAGA base is supremely pissed. And for once, they’re not pissed at the Democrats, or the MSM, or even their own caucus. They’re supremely pissed at Trump, and that has every MAGA Senator and congressman heading for their Depends.

Right now, Traitor Tot is in negative numbers in every polled issue among MAGA supporters, and doing even worse with independents, the must have bloc to get reelected.

They hate his job performance, they hate his Big beautiful Bill, they hate his immigration policies, they hate his tariffs, and right now they hate his guts. After ten long years, the scales have finally fallen from their eyes. All along up until now, Trump constantly talked a great game about what he was going to do, and then blamed his failures on the Democrats and the mainstream media. But he kept pushing the agenda, and promising results, much like the half century fight to overturn abortion rights.

But now he’s stopped. He’s stopped talking up the agenda to the base, and worse yet, he’s stopped talking to them at all. The second Trump term is exactly what he broadcast it would be, petty grievandce, destruction of the government, and vengeance on all who f*cked with him.

Which isn’t playing well in MAGA land. They hate his Big beautiful Bill. Rural GOP voters really hate the Medicaid cuts in his BBB that are threatening to close the only hospital within 50 miles of them. They’re finally realizing that fewer immigrants mean higher prices for poultry, meats, and produce. And they don’t like higher prices for diapers and toys simply because Traitor Tot never bothered to look up the word Tariff in the dictionary, and comprehend it.

Which is a nightmare scenario for the GOP going into the 2026 midterms. Because for the last decade, the GOP caucus has been the Trump version of Rush Limbaugh’s famed Ditto–Heads, who were renowned for jumping to their feet and shouting Ditto! Ditto! every time he took a breath.

And now they’re on the horns of a dilemma. On the one hand, the disgruntled MAGA base gives them close air support to defy His Lowness on his more obnoxious impulses without costing them that disgruntled base vote. But on the other hand, there is still a rock solid base of MAGA pro Trump supporters he can call on at will, and rising against Traitor Tot almost ensures them a primary in 2026, when the pro Trump base is the one most likely to show up.

Sooner or later, every sucker finally figres out he’s been had, and when he does, the con man’s best hope is to already be four blocks away and getting into a cab. Baron von Schitzenpantz is not going to change. This is his last chance at vengeance, and he knows it. His shining Gotterdammerung. Which leaves the GOP in an untenable position, since even a good chunk of the MAGA base has decided that the last thing they want is Barney the Dinosaur in an SS uniform. Don’t touch that dial.
