Here we go again. Once again Traitor Tot is busy waving around his little swing mushroom d*ck with threats about tariffs starting on August 1st, but as Lawrence O’Donnell pointed out on The Last Word last night, he made history doing it. He became the first President in world history to threaten economic sanctions by form letter.
No sh*t. He hit up more than a dozen friendly and ally countries including Japan and South Korea, and the letters were identical except for the country name at the top. The only thing I can’t help wondering is exactly what it is that countries like Bosnia and Herzegovina export to this country that a single US citizen would be willing to spend an extra 25% for?
And once again it’s off to the races. The Dow tanks 400+ companies start playing Business Roulette, asking questions like How much are my sales going down? How long is this going to last? Should I cut production any? Should I lay off any employees, and if so, how many? While the national newspapers and television news outlets gleefully announce another TACO Watch!
This shouldn’t surprise anyone, most certainly not Trump’s former Chief-of-Staff John Kelly. As he related to a reporter researching yet another Trump book that I read, one of the most frustrating parts of his job was to spend two hours closeted alone with Il douche in the Oval Office, either explaining why he shouldn’t do something stupid he had his feeble mind fixed on, or he should do something intelligent that he didn’t want to, probably because he didn’t understand it. After two hours he finally gave His Lowness a common sense baptism, only to have somebody bring the subject up again a week later, and find Trump right back at square one the other way.
Nobody should be surprised by this. Because as Mary Trump and I can easily explain, with Traitor Tot this kind of behavior is a feature and not a bug. And, being hard wired into Trump’s brain synapses, there’s a simple reason.
To understand, you need to remember that in Trump’s monolithic narcissistic mind, he is incapable of making a mistake. When an issue is presented to him, he does no research and seeks no counsel, instead he goes with his gut. And with Trump’s gut, that normally means bacon double cheeseburgers. Instead Trump settles a problem with the most simplistic ad type jingle that somebody spouts off to him and catches his fancy. And once the decision is made and announced, it is immediately thrown over his shoulder onto a huge pile of past stupid decisions he has made, never to be revisited.
Because the other salient feature of El Pendejo Presidente’s brain is that he is, as has been obvious since day one, totally transactional. But because he has no planning abilities, nor any real memory recall skills, every issue that is set before him is a brand-new crisis. And if an aide even bothers to remind him that he had the same issue on his desk three months ago, Trump is almost guaranteed to have no recollection of it, and the aide sure as sh*t isn’t going to tell him what the solution is. And so you end up with this constant whiplash back-and-forth of contradictory solutions, with Emperor Gluteus Maximus completely unaware of how feckless he looks.
And I can prove this empirically. This is not the first set of tariffs Trumpenstein has announced with set-in-stone implementation dates. And on almost every previous occasion, on the day before, when the media presses him as to whether or not the tariffs will go into effect, Traitor Tot gives them the blankest stare anybody has ever seen outside of an opium den, and mutters, What? Oh, that shit. Actually we’re still working on the details, I’ll let you know. It is clear and obvious to all that The Orange Julius doesn’t have a single clue as to what anybody is talking about, himself included.
And it happened again today, and here I must admit some ignorance, since I personally didn’t hear the meltdown. But MSNBC reported today that Dolt 45 announced that we are shipping more arms to Ukraine, and then went off on Putin like a leftover 4th of July skyrocket. Vlad the Imp must be apoplectic in the Kremlin right now. He’s spent six long years training this incontinent lap poodle, and now it bites him in the ass. And you know that this is one promise that Trump will keep. Simply because the leaders of all of the other NATO member countries are going to be pounding him on the back and complimenting him on his statesmanship and leadership. They keep that sh*t up long enough, and Trump will give Zelenskyy freakin’ nukes, just to feed his ego.
As George Carlin used to say, It’s a sick world, and I’m a happy guy. Every day is a new adventure in Trumpmenistan, simply because, like Drew Barrymore in the adorable movie 50 1st Dates, she wakes up every morning with no odea of what happened the day before, making everything a new adventure. But when the media expounds on the unpredictability of Trump, they’re either being disingenuous, or they’re just not paying attention. because when you’re guided by the two mental precepts I listed above, you can see just how predictable so much of this is.
