No, you didn’t click on a link that took you to The Onion. This is good ole Politizoom and I’m here to tell you Texas Senator Rafael Edward (call me Ted. Thanks) Cruz has popped up in the news again to offer his thoughts on Birthright Citizenship. Really Ted? YOU want to create a pile of you-know-what and dive into it? Well, since you’ve done just that let’s take a look at the issue. And YOU.
I couldn’t believe it when I saw a headline from The Latin Times in my news feed. It states Cruz is being ‘mocked’ over his hypocrisy. Gee, I wonder why? It’s a short read and worth it for the tweets that shall we say suggest Cruz might not want to try and become a poster boy on this particular issue. But, as the article states during an appearance on Fox (where else?) despite being a beneficiary of birthright citizenship law and policy himself Cruz called it a “terrible policy.” I guess the 14th Amendment and laws codifying said policy HE benefited from don’t apply to others:
Cruz, born in Canada to a Cuban father and American mother, gained U.S. citizenship at birth through his mother’s status.
On May 15, during an interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News, Cruz declared, “I think birthright citizenship is terrible policy,” aligning himself with calls from parts of the right to limit or end the constitutional guarantee.
Let’s examine that ‘born in Canada’ thing. Cruz moved to (Houston) Texas when he was four and has lived in the U.S. ever since. Look, since his mom was a citizen (born here in fact) I’ve never questioned Cruz’s citizenship or, even when he was running for President the ‘natural born’ part. Here’s where it gets interesting however. Cruz was born in 1970 and existing law made him a “Conditional Citizen” because a) only one parent was a U.S. Citizen and b) he wasn’t born on U.S. soil. Fun fact, a case on that very point confirmed this in a 5-4 SCOTUS ruling the same year Cruz was born!
In order to ‘perfect’ his citizenship Cruz would have, under that law had to live in the U.S. for five years between the ages of 14-28, and if not no U.S. citizenship. Well, that never became a problem for two reasons. First, as I said Ted moved here when he was four and never had residence in any other country. Second, in 1978 Congress changed that particular law, ‘curing’ Ted’s citizenship issue. Still for much of his life Cruz carried DUAL U.S. and Canadian citizenship. He only got around to renouncing/terminating his Canadian citizenship when it became a political issue.
Also, I recall something about this from years ago concerning a form his mother was supposed to fill out and give to the embassy to ensure her son RAFAEL was indeed entitled to be recognized as a U.S. citizen. She didn’t, and it was one of those things that had to ‘get fixed’ years later! But it was and hell, as any sane person who knows even basic Civics Ted has been a U.S. Citizen since birth. Canada too which probably embarrassed them when he became a known political figure but back then they were too polite to talk about it. I think it’s safe to say that NOW they are tickled pink that Ted isn’t at least partly one of them! If only he weren’t one of US…
Cruz has long carried the title of most hated man in the Senate. The joke goes even Ted Cruz hates Ted Cruz. There’s probably some truth to that since there’s more than a little self-loathing over how he meekly bowed down to Trump eight years ago. Cruz is also a contender for the title of ‘Most Punchable Face’ but that would be wrong. Not to mention illegal. As far as I know taping his picture to a dartboard and going to town with the darts is ok though!
Well, it’s another day with as you’d expect a staggering piece of GOP/conservative HYPOCRISY. At least Cruz is getting roasted on twitter it seems. There’s some good ones in the linked article if you check it out.
***Zoomers, we are always in need of donations. It’s been an especially rough month and my own health has not been great these past few weeks, which just adds to the frustration. Anything you can spare will be immensely appreciated. And thank you to all who have donated generously already. Ursula***

It’s not “a policy.”
It is an inherent part of The Constitution.
He’s a freakin’ Senator. He took an oath to The Constitution.
Send his info to puppy-killer barbi with a note saying Canada has washed its hands of him and won’t take him back. That leaves Mexico, where he spends a lot of his time anyway, particularly during natural disasters at home, but I don’t think they will oblige until trump scraps the Gulf of America thing. Then there’s Cuba, but Hell would have to freeze over first, and of course Puerto Rico, if trump reinstates FEMA funding for the territory, a snowball’s chance in Hell. That leaves Haiti and Hell itself. I would recommend he go to the latter.
First remove the LOG from your own eye before turning to the speck in your brother’s eye. Jesus reportedly had a cure for his putrid hypocrisy. Hell seems like the best option, for LIARS AND HYPOCRITES!
