I honestly look at this and wonder how long before Donald starts stirring up a batch of Kool-Aide. And you’ve probably heard the joke, “What’s the difference between Jim Jones and Trump?” The answer: “Trump will charge for the Kool-Aide.” And bigly, we suspect. The woman on stage, all whipped up into a religious frenzy as she paints Her Deity, is strange enough. But the audience watching this, worshipfully, are the really scary ones. Take a look at this.
To quote George W. Bush: “This is some weird shit."

This is pure idolatry. I wish somebody could explain this to me. The nearest that I’ve ever come to understanding the Trump phenomenon is that he appeals to people who simply don’t know anything. They believe that he has some new definition of tariffs. They believe that he can run for a third term. They believe whatever he tells them because they don’t know basic civics or basic economics or basic anything.
And of course Trump created this character and played it for fourteen years on television. I think that’s where I truly missed the boat. I never heard of him before he got into politics and I never saw a single episode of The Apprentice. So when he came down the escalator I saw him for who and what he was and my reaction was OMFG. Is this serious?
Oh yes it was. This was Mr. Television turning politics into reality TV. It blew my mind at the time and still continues to blow my mind. And of course this circus act would never have gotten off the ground but for the fact that the Republican party had been in a steady state of rot and decay for the previous forty years. When Trump showed up the lunatic fringes of the GOP, the religious nuts, the KKK and Nazi factions, the woman haters, all coalesced behind him. It was the old adage come to life, “In the valley of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.”
Here’s a portrait of Trump that I think is more accurate. At least it expresses my sentiment.

I guess that Occam’s Razor decrees that in order to understand Trump you first have to believe that he was the genius, self-made billionaire with the gorgeous wife (wives) and the perfect children and the enviable life — and not look too closely into facts like the six bankruptcies and the reality that everything in Trump world was leveraged to the hilt, or that he managed to wreck one business after another.
The Apprentice was the catechism for The Cult. If you received your indoctrination there, during that 14-year period, then you were set up for the reality TV presidency. If you were doing other things and didn’t get the catechism, then your reaction to Trump was probably the same as mine, WTF?
I think it may be as simple as that. Ironically, Trump wants to take us back to a mythical world of the 1950’s, when life was supposedly perfect. A time when men were men and women were women and gays knew enough to hide in the closet and Blacks and other POCs stayed in the shadows. That era of perfection never existed, at least not outside charming sitcoms like Andy Of Mayberry.
Likewise the success of Trump never existed. But we bought into the brainwashing. We bought the image. And now we’re stuck with it. November 3, 2026 can’t come fast enough. At least we can regain Congress and stonewall the lunatic and his party.

Zoomers, we would happily accept a small donation to defray expenses as we trek through cyberspace. It’s going to get a lot crazier, that much we can guarantee you. Thanks. Ursula

“This is pure idolatry. I wish somebody could explain this to me.”
My attitude exactly, Ursula! But once I turned to history, I got an inkling of what’s happening. Our current mess is an extreme case of what German sociologist Max Weber called “charisma.” Today we assume that this word means something positive, along the lines of JFK or Mandela. Actually, the idea is ethically neutral. Charisma is an irrational personal connection between a leader and his/her followers. The followers act as cultists, refusing to believe that their leader can do anything wrong. That magical connection brought us Mao, Stalin, Hitler (yes, Hitler), and now Donald Trump. If history is any guide, we sane citizens have little or no hope of weaning these followers away from their cult leader; we just have to overcome them in the streets and at the ballot box. Not a rosy scenario, but that’s where we’re at now.
I never watched an episode of The Apprentice either. I thought it was crap television, as my view of “reality” shows. I suppose that’s a basic filter these people do not have.
Me neither. Of course, being from New York, I HAD heard of Trump. But I found him repulsive from the get go. That’s why I never watched The Apprentice.
“The nearest that I’ve ever come to understanding the Trump phenomenon is that he appeals to people who simply don’t know anything.”
Read any comments on the FUX website and this will be confirmed…unfortunately in spades!
A truly clueless bunch of lunatics.
Oh heck, time to read 1984 again and watch the hand aid’s tale. This is just too freaky and the fool is gonna bankrupt us all in the process.
Thou shall have no other gods before me.
The first of the ten commandments! UH OH ASSHOLES!!! Good luck in the eternal darkness…
I lived in NYC so I knew about him in the 80s, but he was just coming into.his own as a groping, racist jackass. His cultists worship him.because they are just like him: stupid, ignorant ( Daddy bought that degree for him), poorly educated (,if someone else does your work for you and professors pass you with a C- after being pressured, you’re not educated; you just got passed and a degree), racist, misogynist jackasses completely lacking in integrity, empathy, and curiosity.
Reality TV is to me like the sun to vampires and always has been. And not these new-fangled vampires that can walk around in sunlight, I’m talking old school Bela Lugosi vampires. So naturally, the apprentice was never on my watch list, even before we had watch lists.
As for the spectacle in the video from above, and this doesn’t happen often, I’m speechless.
