This is a breath of fresh air. You’re all aware of TDS, Trump Derangement Syndrome, the malady that the yous and mes allegedly suffer from but Jim Acosta identifies the real TDS which is killing us, which is Trump Depression Syndrome. This is very real. People went nuts the night of November 5, certainly one of the worst nights in my entire life. I pray I never have to repeat it again.
But Kamala Harris losing the election was and is not the worst of it. The worst of it is that people became depressed and have just given up. You’ve seen my daily pleas for contributions since then because our traffic dropped precipitously, down by 60%, sometimes down by 80% of what we previously have had for the past few years.
The traffic panic is industry-wide as I’ve said, and you’ve seen the shakeups at CNN, MSNBC, and various major newspapers as viewers/readers have tuned out (and management has made catastrophic choices in bending the knee to Trump.) This is all a cascade effect of Trump’s election. ABC/Disney folded and gave Trump $15 million as a settlement for a simple defamation case which they would have won easily. They just didn’t want to try the case. What explanation for that level of cowardice (not to mention legal malpractice) there is, I haven’t heard.
But the decision was made to settle rather than fight. On everybody’s part. Trump has cowed not only ABC/Disney but possibly CBS. He’s cowed Columbia University. He’s cowed various major law firms. Everybody is afraid of him. But Acosta says that is changing, and indeed it is. A few lawyers have decided to stand up and fight back. This video is 42 minutes long and the commentary about Trump Depression Syndrome, the true TDS, starts at 4:25 in.
Acosta says that there is a “sense of mission which is inspiring” with respect to the elections coming up this week. It will be a major statement one way or the other what happens in Wisconsin. Musk may end up looking like the fool or his image as kingmaker might be ratified. I hope it’s not the latter because that will only add to the Trump Depression Syndrome.
Acosta asks, with respect to Musk’s machinations in Wisconsin, “How is it legal to hold a lottery and hand out million dollar checks to people for voting?” We all remember when it was deemed “illegal” for people to pass out water or food to citizens waiting in line to vote — but now you can have a million dollar lottery to do the same thing?
This judicial election in Wisconsin is solidly focused on the MAGA voter to turn out. That’s what Musk is using his big money to buy.
This will be an interesting election week in any event. If those House seats in Florida flip, it will be a seismic event. But even if they are held but held by a narrow margin, that will send a warning signal. Trump has awakened a sleeping giant by tampering with Social Security and Medicare. Those two issues involve a great many people. And when voters see an issue that involves them personally, politics stops being some abstract thing. They want to protect themselves and they get out and vote.
