This Russia as the good guys theme has always mesmerized me. It is key to MAGA philosophy and since we have a dumbed down populace who know nothing of geopolitics and have only the vaguest clue of the dimensions of WWII, I suppose it makes some kind of sense. The problem is that the boomer generation is the oldest generation in the country and we remember all too well our parents and dear older friends telling us at length about WWII and what it meant. I had a friend who was a survivor of Dachau, I had another friend who was a fighter pilot in the Pacific theater, I worked for a lawyer who was the Army liason on the Manhattan Project. I had a roommate whose father landed on the beach at Normandy. So I heard no end of fascinating (and frequently horrific) stories.
That’s why I simply do not comprehend why older people are MAGAs other than to just conclude that they didn’t listen to their elders. Russia is not our friend. Russia has never been our friend. Yes, they were an ally against Hitler, but the minute he was out of the picture and the bomb was out there, Stalin was infiltrating the Manhattan Project and you know the rest. But what Junior said, in a post deleted in the past hour (around 1:00 p.m. PT) was: “Why would we be an ally of Ukraine if Russia was the other choice?” And then he went on to say that Russia was a nuclear power, had many minerals, was so wonderful and I don’t recall the specifics well enough to paraphrase but the gist of it was that we’re betting on the wrong horse, backing Ukraine. But clearly there was pushback. But fear not. The internet doesn’t lose anything and it’s entirely possible somebody grabbed the post before he deleted it. Here’s somebody else who saw the same post I did.
Garry Kasparov and I both saw the post, which was up on the Republicans Against Trump account. You can slap a lie detector on me. It was a 34 second audio with Junior’s Triggered logo as the visual and he extolled the virtues of Mother Russia. Junior’s judgement is going, he must be doing too much blow. A few days ago he mocked Janet Mills, Governor of Maine, for standing up to Daddy and the internet went nuts and piled on him. This tweet would have created even more of a furor if he hadn’t taken it down.
What an administration. Junior may not be a formal part of it, but he goes out of his way to “help” Dad and if this is the level of help he’s giving, I shudder to think what he’d put out there if he wanted to embarrass the old man. Or, maybe that’s the actual motivation, subconsciously.
And of course Kasparov is catching hell for commenting on Junior’s post.
Now it’s faked audio. Hoe kay. Let’s play it that way. Then why didn’t Junior expose the fake and use it as evidence of how the Evil Left is out to get him, by imitating his voice and appropriating his logo? Seems to me that that would be a good scandal. All I know is what I saw and heard and I described it. And the first thought that ran through my mind will not surprise you. That was: “My God, if Hunter Biden had said this, the earth would have fallen off its axis.”
Just another day in Trump world, Month Two. May we hold on until November 2026 and save ourselves.

Technically you’re correct. There’s still a smattering of the WWII generation still alive but there are precious few of them. VERY few. There’s sure as hell not enough of them to have events with hundreds of them speaking out about what this country has become. Their children, the baby boomers are dying off in signficant numbers now! The average life expectancy is still under eighty years of age and I’m still well short of that – in my latter sixties. I’ve seen plenty of people my age die off already. Those well into their seventies go to funerals with increasing frequency. Chew on that for a while

We are very grateful. We would be up the creek without our readers bailing us out now. The last four months have been a horror — and not just for this outlet, for all media in this country, other than right-wing. I guess they’re doing okay.
Well, it’s always easier to make money when you have zero conscience about how you make your money.
You think drug dealers and pimps ever feel conflicted about the morality of how they’re making their money? You think arms dealers ever think about dead children as they’re counting their money? You think e-mail scammers think about the moral qualms of their “job” when they’re cleaning out bank accounts of the hapless suckers who fell for their scheme? You think Drumpf gives a rat’s patoot whether his “valuable” supporters are having to figure out how to stay in their homes after they spent the month’s rent/mortgage payment on one of his little money-making scams? You think Kim Jong Un is having trouble sleeping after his own personal group of hackers “stole” $1.5 BILLION in crypto currency?
If you can manage to put aside your own personal feelings to make money, it’s much easier to get ahead. (I’m pretty sure there are dedicated vegans who have to put aside their beliefs to get through today’s shift at Burger King or McDonalds.)
