Tragedies are always in the abstract until somebody you know is involved. That is now the case. Olympic silver medalist Nancy Kerrigan is an alumna of the Skating Club of Boston, which lost two teenage students, two coaches, and two parents in the crash Wednesday night at Reagan National Airport. She is understandably devastated. I wonder if Trump will tell her that it’s all Joe Biden’s and Pete Buttigieg’s fault?
The Associated Press reported, “Skating Club of Boston CEO Doug Zeghibe said Thursday that skaters Jinna Han and Spencer Lane were among those killed, along with 1994 pairs world champions Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov of Russia. In all, 14 of the victims were coming back from a national development camp for promising young skaters following the U.S. Championships in Wichita, Kansas, Zeghibe said.”
“Much like everyone here has been saying, not sure how to process it,” a tearful Kerrigan said at a news conference in Boston. “We just wanted to be here and be part of our community.”
She continued, “I don’t know how? You look at people going through tragedies and you wonder, how do they do it? I don’t know, but we’re so strong. Somehow, we have a reservoir to take from, and each one are strong enough to get through this somehow. It will take time, but, look beside you — there’s somebody that cares. And tell people around you that you love them.”
This is sage advice. And it would have been a lot more helpful if when the *president* spoke this morning, if he had called for unity and assured people of a diligent investigation, resulting in increased safety for the future. Instead, he made the tragedy about himself and used it to compliment himself.
President Donald Trump was eviscerated online after blaming diversity for the plane crash at the Washington, D.C. airport on Wednesday night.
“Trump’s press conference today, blaming the FAA’s hiring of women and black people for the crash – was disgusting,” said Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) in a response video. “Especially after he just threw the FAA into chaos, ousting the Administrator and the whole FAA safety board. He’s in charge. This happened on his watch.”
“Trump, looking like an Oompa Loompa with severe scalp mange uses the American Airlines / Blackhawk helicopter tragedy to trash Obama and Biden and complement himself. This deranged, malignant narcissist is as pathetic a human being as it gets,” bashed singer-songwriter Bill Madden.
“Trump is out here trying to blame Black people and women for a plane crash that happened *after* he announced a DEI purge of the FAA,” posted journalist Aaron Rupar.
Long-time journalist Jim Acosta recalled the quote from President Harry Truman that with the presidency, “the buck stops here.”
“Trump is trying to pass the buck and blame everybody but his administration for the DC plane crash. This is a time for consoling the families and investigating the cause of this tragedy, not shameful finger-pointing,” Acosta posted on X.
Right-wing watchdog group PatriotTakes pointed to a tweet from Trump in 2018 in which he took credit for “zero deaths in 2017, the best and safest year on record.” After the crash, however, Trump is pointing fingers.
“When good things happen, Trump takes credit. When bad stuff happens, Trump takes no responsibility,” the group said.
Writer David Mack attacked poor news coverage on Thursday, saying, ‘the headline is not ‘Trump blames deadly plane crash on DEI’ but ‘Trump seizes on deadly plane crash to attack minorities.'”
Nancy Kerrigan humanized this tragedy and put it in a relatable context, whereas our so-called *president* displayed once again how utterly tone deaf he is to human tragedy and how any occurrence of note that happens during the next four years will be about him. “Not good,” to quote the Moron in Chief.

It’s standard not to release names until next of kin have been notified but given the Blackhawk was an Army helicopter based at and flying back to Davison Airfield at Ft. Beloir (a few miles south of the Capitol Beltway) notifying the families of the three person crew would have likely taken place before midnight. Certainly by this morning so why so little information on them?
Fox talked about Crew Chief Ryan O’Hara and what a great guy he was, and how he left behind a wife and child. Nice Irish sounding name so that figures. As for the two pilots, Fox didn’t provide names. They DID admit it was a regular proficiency recertification flight. Skills for pilots are perishable and that’s why they train. And must be evaluated hence this particular training flight. The people flying the Blackhawk were an instructor with over 1000 flight hours and an experienced pilot with 500 hours. Experienced. Both in flight time and in that particular air corridor.
DEI my ass! However, that’s by god how Trump wants this played and if the other two wind up being WHITE people with good ole no doubt about it American sounding names it won’t fit the narrative. Fox suggests one of the pilots was a woman. If so she must be some kind of all American mom in addition to being an experienced Army helicopter pilot because we haven’t gotten her name. Or any info. on her family.
My bet is that Trumpty and Hegseth have people down their at Davison trying to bribe enlisted folks (aircraft mechanics and others) and fellow chopper pilots with promotions to say negative stuff about her. And the guy too.
Asking Trump to care about the carnage he has caused and WILL CAUSE, is like asking any serial killer to have empathy for his victims. Have you EVER seen ANY of them have remorse? Or break down in court with regret? Wake the phuck up America…YOU’RE NEXT.
