This honeymoon is soon to be over. That’s what a lot of people don’t seem to realize. I get it that half the country is shell shocked, but we need to arouse ourselves from our torpor, gird our loins and get back in the battle. The other half of the country is in gleeful anticipation of January 20. One evangelical wingnut, Lance Wallnau, has been marking off the days on the calendar, like it was Christmas. For you see, that’s the fantasy. That sweeping, massive changes are about to come out of Washington like candy coming down a conveyor belt in a factory, and it’s all one sweet treat about to happen.
The reality, on the other hand, is that the world itself is in a precarious place. And yes, the world always has its share of wars, whether hot, cold or culture, and natural disasters. That’s part of living. But in nine days when Trump takes office he walks into 1. War in the Middle East; 2. War in Ukraine; 3. A national disaster in California of apocalyptic proportions; and other smaller but no less consequential issues.
Trump will ride in on a good economy, like before, with record breaking jobs creation, like before. But here’s what isn’t like before: Trump was saner then. He was like the dog that caught the car and then didn’t know what to do with it. He fumbled, bumbled, hired his kids and his cronies — but some competent, old school Republicans came along for the ride as well.
Color all that gone. He’s now got Project 2025 people populating his administration and his vice president is the least seasoned of anybody in that job in history, fully two years of being a junior senator and that’s it. J.D. lives in a world of theory, not a legislative track record. So Vance, the Project 2025 crew, and a sliver of a majority in both chambers of Congress are supposed to effect instanteous and world shattering changes overnight.
And they’re supposed to do this for a man who has only become more mentally unstable and antagonistic during his four years out of office. This is a recipe for disaster and that’s what you’re going to see. I don’t know about Dictator For One Day but I know Disaster For Four Years when I see it. Here’s just the latest international dust up and you know it won’t go unaddressed. Trump is too petty for that.
Putin doesnt care about Ukraine. He has his eyes on the United States.

Yes and no. Putin cares very much about Ukraine because he wants to reestablish the old Russian empire of yore. And then of course Putin intends to see the long game of Nikita Khrushchev’s come to light, “We will take over the United States without firing a shot. We will take you over from within.” Putin is also incredibly wealthy and he fits right in with Musk and the rest of the billionaires about to divvy up the spoils.
So how will Trump handle this outburst of Johnson’s?
- Ignore it?
- Tell Mike Johnson to handle it, assuming they’re relatives?
- Side with Johnson, a former statesman in a country which is a near and dear ally to the U.S.?
- Side with his BFF in Moscow?
- Nuke the UK?
- Wait, I’ve got it: 90% tariffs on all UK goods and services?
Who knows? But whatever Trump does it will be slipshod, scattershot, impulsive, ill-advised, not thought out and will only make things worse.
Remember that now we live in anticipation. We speculate, we assume, we forecast. And there are no stakes or consequences for those activities. But not in nine more days. Then reality kicks in, just like the doors that Kash Patel is literally targeting. How far his, or anybody else’s mad scheme gets, we don’t know.
We just know the target date and we will get there fast. And then wait for your head to start spinning.
