Welcome to the Border Wall Take 2. The wall never got built and had it been, it’s a cinch that the Mexican government would not have paid for it. Yet that was the cri de coeur of Donald Trump’s first campaign, that the first thing he was going to do was build that wall, on day one. And of course Steve Bannon collected millions for the wall and put it in his pocket. Those were the days. We might have thought that they were gone but no. In fact, hell no. The idiocy about Greenland becoming a 51st state or American territory is escalating. In fact, Trump’s former National Security Advisor is weighing in now, saying that Greenland can’t defend itself, so the U.S. has to take it over. This is not going to end well.
This is the Putin Principle: declare a country or a territory essential for your security and then just wrest it from the citizens of that land.

The paw of Putin is not difficult to see here. Putin wants the Panama Canal sanctions against Russia lifted. That’s a no brainer. It’s also not difficult to see that Canada has territorial rights in arctic gas and oil and Putin wants all that for Russia. That’s why this idiocy with Canada becoming a state and now Greenland is going on. Trump is furthering Putin’s interest, not America’s.

And if we don’t have the money to buy these countries, then evidently we have the money to go to war with them. This is all blather, but it does a lot of damage. This is not amusing to serious people in other countries. The Danes, like the Canadians and the Mexicans, and the Panamanians, are our allies. And since Trump got reelected, all the talk is trolling our allies and threatening their futures. This is not foreign policy. This is a lot of special interests, who put Trump where he is, attempting to collect.
Our only question now is how much irreparable damage is going to be done by this incoming Trojan Horse of misfits and grifters.
