This is yet another step downward for this society. Newsweek is reporting that the Pennsylvania McDonald’s where Luigi Mangione was apprehended, when he was recognized, has had to hire security guards to protect its workers, because Mangione is some kind of a cult hero now. That is completely deranged. The young man shot a man twice his age in the back. He didn’t know the man, but somehow the CEO of a large health care organization represented something to him.

Two private security guards were in the restaurant in Altoona, Pennsylvania, when a reporter visited on Wednesday.

Luigi Mangione, a 26-year-old Ivy League graduate from a prominent Maryland real estate family, was arrested in the restaurant on Monday after a massive manhunt for the man who gunned down Brian Thompson, 50, as he walked alone to his company’s annual investor conference at the New York Hilton Midtown in New York City on the morning of December 4.

Authorities said a customer in the restaurant thought he matched the description of the suspect in Thompson’s killing and notified an employee, who called 911.

Police in Altoona have said that officers and locals involved in the arrest have received threats since Mangione’s arrest and the restaurant was flooded with negative reviewsGoogle removed a number of disparaging one-star reviews about the restaurant, many of which included mentions about “rats” in the kitchen.

But Derek Swope, the chief of the Altoona Police Department, said on Tuesday that officers and locals involved in Mangione’s arrest have received threats and that those threats were being taken “seriously.”

“This is clearly a very polarized case,” Swope said during a news conference. “We have received some threats against our officers and building here. We’ve started investigating some threats here against some citizens in our community. We’re taking all those threats seriously and doing all the follow-up we can with those.”

Americans have lost their common sense, not to mention their damn minds. There is nothing heroic about this 26-year-old orphaning two children, widowing a woman, depriving a man of his life — because the guy “symbolized” something. Mangione is clearly disturbed.

To go to Mangione’s *defense* by threatening the people who obeyed the law and turned in a murder suspect is the height of perversity. I commend McDonald’s for taking the right steps. I just wish that it wasn’t necessary.

  1. Who will step forward to help the thousands of people left when their loved ones died due to being denied medical care illegally and unjustifiably by United Healthcare, in it’s desire to profit from their deaths.

    And profit massively.

Who killed the most people with their actions, Brian Thompson and his fellow ghouls and their ‘company procedures’ and ‘profit incentives’; or Luigi Mangione with his three shots

      • Brian Thompson et al are not ‘salary slaves’.

He was a highly paid executive in charge of all decision-making in his company, and whose renumeration was heavily padded, (as they all are), by share and profit bonuses doled out by the company HE RAN. These hugely excess profits were achieved by directly denying healthcare to any and everyone as an actual fiscal policy of the company. The less people they ‘cared for’ the more money they made, so that’s the CHOICE they made. Take premiums in payment, deny claims, let people suffer and die = profit to buy billionaire lifestyles for themselves.

There is a moral clarity here.

They chose to kill people so they could be very very rich.

They didn’t have to make that choice but they did.

And someone has come along and drawn attention to their perfidy, by murdering a murderer.

It’s no wonder he’s wildly popular.

  2. I do not agree with what the young man did. I do however understand why it happened. I and my husband both have had prescribed medications denied by insurance. The three doctors involved prescribed those specific medications because they were the best, most effective medications for our separate conditions. Other medications had been tried and did not work. We both had to jump through a dozen hoops to get them approved and then it was for ONLY 30 DAYS!!! Since when does an insurance company get to determine what the best course of care is?? People are dying. Many more so than one CEO. Not the right course of action but when are insurance companies going to be held accountable for the deaths they cause, even if indirectly? They only want to save the money paid out so they can give shareholders more and the CEOs can buy a new yacht. Something must be done, but not killing. The incoming circus will do absolutely nothing to help the situation. Indeed, we will be longing for the days when we had insurance at all. Or any benefits for that matter. They are going after everything, even the FDIC ffs!!

  3. American is unraveled. That’s why this happened. We’re just at the stage where blowback starts happening on those actually responsible for the unraveling.
