Some political careers go out with a bang (see: Gaetz, Matt) and others go out with a whimper. Out out brief candle. Kari Lake got a cockeyed notion several years ago that she could be a high roller in the political arena, sailing under Donald Trump’s MAGA flag. All she managed to do was alienate the Republicans in Arizona and get into a pissing contest with Meghan McCain. Meghan is a character in her own right, but at least she is John McCain’s daughter (which she has made a career of) and the senator was a major force in Arizona politics and the United States Senate for a great many years.
In all events, Lake lost her gubernatorial bid and then she lost her senatorial bid and last we knew, Trump was maybe going to make her the Ambassador to Mexico. But all that went south Tuesday night. Lake has been passed over. Is this three strikes, you’re out? Could be.

So what’s next for Kari? Say, I’ve got an idea: she can go be Matt Gaetz’s understudy at OAN. Or, maybe she can be his gofer, something along those lines. Then there’s Steve Bannon. Can Lake finagle a job out of him? Could be. Bannon was instrumental in getting Lake started in Arizona. He told the folks down there how Lake “had class” but the way she reviled the late Senator McCain was anything but classy.
The Arizona electorate has made it stunningly clear that they want nothing to do with Lake and now Trump has made it plain that he basically concurs. So I don’t know what’s in store for her. I suppose it is possible that Trump could send Lake somewhere else in the world. Remember the Duchy of Grand Fenwick (in the movie The Mouse That Roared?) Maybe Trump could send her there.
Or, is there an American consulate in Siberia? Anybody know? Maybe Vladimir can find a place for Kari. I don’t think Trump would mind that one bit. He 86’d Kari from Mar-a-Lago quite a while back and now he’s got to figure out a way to do the same with Elon Musk. Musk, FYI, is reportedly looking to buy a 19,000 square foot home near Mar-a-Lago. Maybe Kari could go to work for Elon?
If anybody knows where Lake can find a gig, I’m sure she’d be glad to hear. And again, Trump hasn’t made all his appointments yet. She could still get something. But I doubt it will be a prime appointment.
