Before I get to Obama’s effective line of attack, I must toss in a quick shout-out. Kudos to Governor Tim Walz for his rally speech today in his joint appearance with former President Barack Obama.
Walz lit into Trump over his McDonalds stunt, then segued perfectly to an even juicier target, Did you see that stunt Trump pulled over the weekend, working the fry line at a closed McDonald’s? It was closed! Nobody lets you walk through a drive through lane. They finally found an apron that would fit him, and he spent five monutes working the fry line. I’ll tell you this much right now for a fact, I’m betting that the five minutes Trump spent on that fry line was the hardest five minutes of work Trump has ever done in his life.
Then the killer segue, But look, I don’t want to spend all of my time talking about Trump, I want to talk about his running mate. Yeah, his running mate, Elon Musk. Yeah, did you see that? Musk is standing there on a stage with Trump, jumping around, bouncing on his toes, dancing around and looking like a total dipshit. I’m betting Musk is still using Traitor Tot’s IOU’s to wipe his streaming eyes.
But now on to The Oracle of Politics, Barack Obama. I watched with glee the way he took down Traitor Tot in his rally speech on Friday, covered live by MSNBC. Obama unchained on the subject of Donald Trump is a thing to behold. All of the personal disgust he has for that pig on two cloven hooves, done as only Obama can do it.
He started by giving a fly-by recap of Trump’s recent antics, complete with those side-to-side head looks, scratching his head, those soft sarcastic chuckles, and the googling eyes. The audience was hooting and jeering at every turn. And then Obama unleashed the kill shot, something like;
This would be funny, except that so many people are so numb to him that they say it’s “Just Trump being Trump.” But let me ask you this. What if it was your uncle, or your grandfather, or your father-in-law that was acting like that? Wouldn’t you be calling your brothers and sisters, your relatives, and asking them, “Have you noticed how Grandpa’s been acting lately? You probably wouldn’t give him the keys to the car, and you sure wouldn’t put him in charge of anything! And yet this man wants unbridled power!
That is an incredibly damning indictment. And more so, it crosses ideological barriers. After all, there isn’t one among us who hasn’t had a personal experience with a close family member who hasn’t suffered from obvious mental decline. And once any of those soft undecided voters hears that, there’s no way for them to unring that bell. Once they hear that line, their mind will immediately compare Trump to that close person or relative, and it puts Traitor Tot’s antics into an entirely new, totally personal light.
To her credit, Kamala Harris is going there, she’s just stopping short of personalizing it, and she really needs to do that. She’s saying things like, Trump is more and more unstable, and totally unhinged now. And that’s fine, but it’s rally speak. She needs to do what Obama is doing, and personalize it with a follow up line like, But what if it was a close family member of yours who was acting like this? especially when she’s on this battleground blitz in red suburban and exurban areas, looking to pick up loose Nikki Haley voters. Personalize it, and give them one more way to compare Trump’s behavior to normal behavior, which they automatically will once she makes that personal connection.
Look, we’re 14 short days from the moment of truth. And at this point, with so few undecided voters left to reach out to, you have to use every tool in your toolbox to get them to make that all important connection to your way of thinking. And the sooner the better.
I thank you for the privilege of your time.

“To her credit, Kamala Harris is going there, she’s just stopping short of personalizing it, and she really needs to do that.”
Nah. I disagree. That’s what the surrogates are supposed to do. With the media’s complicity in “normalizing” and sane-washing Trump’s behavior over these last 8 or 9 years, the first “personal” attack that Harris makes against Trump will be turned into “What a harpy” (or “What a female-dog”) no matter how many offensive personal attacks Trump makes against Harris.
Hell, even if Obama were running for President against Trump (and we all know that’s who Trump *really* wants to run against–given the way Obama “disrespected” Trump all those years ago), Obama would NOT be making the same kind of personal attack, no matter what Trump was saying about him.
If you’re going to call him dangerous, unhinged, and delusional, you might just as well PERSONALIZE it so that everybody makes the personal connection…There are never too many voices in a choir…
No matter how discreet or “presidential” Kamala may be in her depictions of Trumpy, the rightwingdingers will still defame her as a bitchy female. After her interview with Baier on Fux News, in which she exhibited marvelous self-control while still refuting all of the host’s bullshit, they still labelled her as “nasty,” one of Trump’s favourite denigratory words for women. So let her off the leash. Nothing to lose, and she’ll drive both Donald and his disciples nutso.
This is how Obama connects with his audience. He doesn’t give a speech, he engages them in a conversation. They’re drawn in and they give him their full attention as they participate. It’s a style Kamala uses too, but she could do it more. Just think conversation, and the magic will happen.
I’m luvin’ the Trump grift from his tenure at Mickey D! A t-shirt with his photo hanging out the drive-thru window and a banner that says “MAGA-Donald’s.” Trump is begging for $100 for it and it’s already on Redbubble for $17.99! It is sized all the way up to 5XL for the Meal Team 6 crowd!! 🤣 For its part, McDonald’s has posted, ”McDonald’s does not endorse candidates for elected office and that remains true in this race for the next President. We are not red or blue — we are golden.” It is also very protective of its brand, so I sure hope litigation is coming!! 🙏
