This is some election coming up in 36 days. In no other election prior to this one did you have a presidential candidate stand up and say there would be no more elections in four years “because we’ll have things fixed so good.” But Donald Trump said that, in a now famous rally with evangelical Christians, wherein he assured them, “my beautiful Christians” that if they only came out and voted for him in November, they “would never have to vote again.”
Additionally, we all have heard Trump say that he won the 2020 election and is therefore entitled to serve another four years anyhow. At least this is an interpretation of his words that many have reached. Trump didn’t want to give up power the last time and I would not expect that to change if he ever got back in power. Every day in every way he makes it clear that he wants to be a strongman, fascist leader. Just today in Erie, Pennsylvania, he again calls for violence, “one rough hour” that would carry the message.
Because of these clarion calls to fascism from Trump, it’s clear that democracy itself is on the ballot. Now on the other side of the coin, here comes X/Twitter owner, Elon Musk, to explain his version of how Kamala Harris and the Democrats will steal all future elections. Let me just chime in at this point that former Twitter owners did not take Musk’s strong political stance. Nevertheless, that was then and this is now.

Very few Americans realize that, if Trump is NOT elected, this will be the last election. Far from being a threat to democracy, he is the only way to save it! Let me explain: if even 1 in 20 illegals become citizens per year, something that the Democrats are expediting as fast as humanly possible, that would be about 2 million new legal voters in 4 years. The voting margin in the swing states is often less than 20 thousand votes. That means if the “Democratic” Party succeeds, there will be no more swing states!! Moreover, the Biden/Harris administration has been flying “asylum seekers”, who are fast-tracked to citizenship, directly into swing states like Pennsylvania, Ohio, Wisconsin and Arizona. It is a surefire way to win every election. America then becomes a one-party state and Democracy is over. The only “elections” will be the Democratic Party primaries. This already happened in California many years ago, following the 1986 amnesty. The only thing holding California back from extreme socialism and suffocating government policies is that people can leave California and still remain in America. Once the whole country is controlled by one party, there will be no escape. Everywhere in America will be like the nightmare that is downtown San Francisco.
Oh, my. At least one good thing comes out of reading Musk’s manifesto, and that is that you see where Trump gets it from and why J.D. Vance feels perfectly safe in making up anti-migrant stories and even admitting that they’re made up. It would really be nice, don’t you think, if there was some proof of the following:
- How many “illegals” there actually are in the country?
- How many of them become citizens and how fast?
- Where is the evidence of “asylum seekers” being “flown” into swing states?
- Where is the evidence of asylum seekers being “fast tracked” to citizenship?
I agree that if there’s a one-party state, that that’s not a democracy by definition. Two healthy, functioning political parties are necessary for democracy to continue. Right now we have one. The answer is for the Republican party to leave Donald Trump in the rear view mirror and rebuild the party, either to what it used to be, or maybe some configuration of conservatism and populism. I don’t know and I don’t worry about it. What the remnants of the GOP do with their shattered husk of a party is their problem. But they need to do something.
There’s no evidence of anything that Musk is saying. This is sheer white supremacy paranoia, the gobblins are coming to getcha. In this case the gobblins are POCs. This is pure Trumpism at its worst. Trump stands up there at the podium and claims that “mental institutions” in other countries are emptying out their wards and the former mental patients are coming across the southern border.
And likewise with prisons, this you have heard as well. This is the 2024 version of the “caravans.” Remember Trump’s 2016 attack ad, where Hillary was favoring “open borders” (on energy, not on immigration) and Trump had an ad out where boxcars were jammed with POCs and not only the insides of the boxcars, people were hanging off the roof of the boxcars.
This is paranoid madness. This is white supremacy on steroids. And the spectre of another Black president, and a female no less, is simply unhinging the right wing.
I hope Elon Musk doesn’t suspend us from posting our work on Twitter/X. He suspended independent journalist Ken Klippenstein this past week for publishing the details of the J.D. Vance dossier. That’s a bit more substantive, and a lot more threatening, than this piece that you’ve just read but the point is that Musk can ban anybody he doesn’t like from his platform.
We may have a governmental right to free speech but if the owner of a private platform tells you to get lost, what good is First Amendment protection then?
One thing I can tell you, there’s going to be a lot of upheaval and upset however the election goes. Mark my words, Trump will not go gently into that dark night. He might be saying today in Erie, “I don’t care,” but wait until the bell actually tolls for him. It will be a different story. I fear that we may be in for January 6, 2021 on steroids.
If Harris wins, which I believe will be the case, she will be in charge of certifying the election, the same process that almost got Mike Pence killed. Ted Cruz, or somebody, will get the ball rolling with an objection. The MAGAs have a chance for theater and it will be Trump’s Last Stand.
Don’t think something won’t happen. Not when a defeated Trump is looking at three criminal trials not to mention sentencing for the hush money cash in Manhattan. We need to begin to prepare for it now.
Many people live in a naive world, believing that once Trump is gone, all will be peaceful. Do not delude yourself. The Republican party is on its last legs and like any wounded animal, is the most dangerous. I don’t pretend to have a vision of how things will pan out after a Trump defeat other than to predict that there will be acimony and chaos. On that much you can depend.
This is the kind of talk that makes the case to have Musk’s citizenship rcinded and ship him back to Sough Africa and bar him from ever entering the USA aggain.

Yes, I occasionally use that to refer to him. But it others me that I am insulting so many innocent animals when I do. So I try o keep it down.
Since the USA is largely the product of “immigrants” (which, in a sense, even includes the Indians), and Elon himself is an “immigrant” from South Africa, that is pretty rich.
Maybe what the Republican party needs to come up with is policies that appeal to immigrants rather than pugilistic rants, threats of draconian action, slander, innuendo, and paeans to privilege.
A side note, in Japan, it is a parliamentary government so an important aspect is the clustering of coalitions. The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP + coalitions, e.g., Kometo) has mostly dominated the political spectrum for a long time. The (now defunct) Japan Democratic Party (JDP) had a short run around the time of the 2011 earthquake but the coalition seemed more far “liberal” than the LDP (from these Western eyes). To some extent, the perfect is the enemy of the good. There was obviously gridlock and obstruction at (possibly) a far worse level than Mitch McConnell’s efforts to screw America by trying to get rid of Obama, but the far left in Japan also had their version of “purity checks” that scuppered their chances of having any say through the JDP (and now they don’t even have that so what did it get them?). At any rate, the systems are different, but ultimately, parties are a product of many coalitions of interests, and finitely narrow interests either need to learn to compromise, or they end up obscure like some of the multitude of parties that make up the Japanese coalitions.

I have spoken to immigrants when out door knocking, who said they had been here 20 years, 40 years, whatever, but they were not naturalized and could not vote.
I know one immigrant who owned property (jointly with her husband) in an area where a vote was being taken to establish a special water district. This kind of election is one in which all property owners may vote in spite of citirnship or not, but citizens may not unless they own property. (That’s even in the Constitution, in the same section which prohibits non-citizens voting in Federal elections it specifically exempts elections in which non-citizens are allowed ro vote under the State’s constitution.) But she just did not feel it would be right for her to vnte. We didn’t need her vote – the election was virtually unaimous – but I was sad that I was unable to convince her that she had that right.
Let’s not forget that Trumpler’s corrupt Supreme Court granted presidents (not just him) immunity for “official acts.” I suggest that President Biden then has every right to crush whatever new insurrection might occur at Trump’s bidding after he loses in November. Both the Constitution and the Law would be on Biden’s side and, thanks to the SCOTUS decision, he can do “whatever the hell he wants” anyway.
Musk threw me off twit in his first purge a few years ago because I was encouraging people to register and vote. He called it propaganda. He’s a real piece of work. As upset as I was back then (I had almost 15,000 followers), I’m now glad I’m off that site. He has shown his true colors over the last few years. I am happy I’m no longer on twit!
It’s time for everyone with a brain and a conscience to ditch twitter. Why support a site that has become propaganda for racism, Nazism, and hate?
Any person going to space karen for information will be very ill-formed indeed. I wish to hell we could ship people like space karen back to where they belong which is not in our country (although, if the coward holds dual citizenship then why not). Get rid of trash like him and let’s get more of these asylum seekers into the country since they actually WORK as opposed to space karen who only destroys.
If you know your history, you’ll know that this is nothing new. There has always been a strong anti-immigrant strain in our politics. In the 19th century it was directed at the Irish because they were Catholic. Then it was Italian and Polish and Germans and Scandinavians because they didn’t speak English. Today it is Hispanics.

My Polish immigrant ancestors living in SW Pennsylvania in the mid-1910s were subjected to KKK harassment (cross burning was all that was mentioned when I was told the story, but there may have been other more serious action taken against other families). They were “taking away American jobs” then, as well.
