It’s another Pleasant Valley Sunday but not in Trump world. No, the denizen of that realm is stewing on the past as usual. What makes that comical is that by so doing he’s feeding directly into Kamala Harris’s message, “We’re not going back.” No, we’re not going back to another Trump administration and we’re not even going back several news cycles. Donald Trump is stuck 43 days ago, like a fly in amber, but none of the rest of us are. Here’s what he posted this morning.

The Secret Service is trying to hustle him off stage in that clip but he doesn’t want that. He says, “Wait, wait, wait!” and then his “Fight! Fight! Fight!” mantra with that scrunched up little kid face that he makes. That’s the real *man* inside there inside the 78-year-old body that you get a glimpse of, a 7-ish, angry little bastard who is mad at the world and ready to destroy anything that he can’t control. Trump let his feral instincts kick in and make a photo op out of the situation and he’s more than a little livid that it all faded away in the 36 hours of a normal news cycle.

Trump honestly believed that this was his Reagan moment. It was all over Twitter, “Trump will win 49 states now.” First of all, the year is not 1984 and Trump is not Reagan, nor is Kamala Harris Walter Mondale. For him to be making these kinds of assertions is completely batshit but that’s how the man rolls.

Trump had his moment of almost-martyrdom. A lot of what hinders the assassination attempt episode from being more memorable is due to Trump himself. If he would allow the medical reports to be released from the hospital showing that he was actually struck by a bullet, that would help his case. He won’t do that, which has led everybody to conclude that he wasn’t struck by a bullet but by debris of some sort.

This entire story was mishandled and misreported by the press. You may recall what we published here, which was a story that independent journalist Josh Marshall unearthed, that a local Pennsylvania TV station ran a story on four motorcycle cops standing nearby Trump who were treated for “minor injuries” arising from flying glass and debris. That story was buried.

It wasn’t until FBI Director Christopher Wray said the word “shrapnel” in a hearing before Congress that the mainstream media felt they had a green light to finally talk about the incident. I found that horrifying then and I find it horrifying now.  The bottom line is that Trump posted on Truth Social that he was “hit by a bullet” and that made it gospel. Nobody fact checked (or if they did, they were told that they couldn’t access his medical reports) and so that was the narrative everybody ran with.

Trump could honestly do himself a favor here by releasing the medical report — unless, of course, it’s going to say “minor injury to ear, probably caused by flying glass and debris.” That of course would mean that Trump got lucky and it would debunk his story of turning his head to look at some chart and thereby avoiding an instant death sentence.

It’s just not romantic to sustain minor injuries when you need to frame the incident as “taking a bullet for democracy” so you can then fundraise off the image with glassware that has a bullet embedded in the side. It’s always important to get the big Trumpian picture in focus.

Now what’s becoming clear is that Trump really counted on the assassination attempt. He rolled into the RNC, bandage taped to ear, which spawned copycat behavior in the cult. They, too, wore ear bandages in a show of solidarity.

Trump had it made for a few days. He got J.D. on board to do the heavy lifting and even wifey showed up and made a cameo appearance. (And probably charged him a quarter of a million dollars. That’s what the Log Cabin Republicans pay her.) Then right after the RNC wrapped, Joe Biden dropped his bombshell that Sunday and Trumpty has been a miserable man ever since.

Now he just wanders the parpets of his own personal Elsinore saying, “They want you to forget. They want you to forget.” Just keep telling yourself that Donald. You deserve 49 states and “they” won’t give them to you. Oh, by the way, they actually pulled a bullet out of Ronnie. That is a slightly different tune.

  1. If Donald really heard a bullet ‘whiz past’ (bullets don’t ‘whiz’ they make a loud crack because they’re supersonic)’ and clip his ear, his big boy diaper would have filled so suddenly the weight would have dragged him down

  2. The man is nothing more than a brigading prick of a fading bully. He’s got the message but hasn’t quite realised the depth of the deadly political quick sand, that he finds himself thrown into. He’s a flapping and flailing one-act moron.

  3. I hate conspiracy theories BUT I find it hard to believe his Secret Service detail and the local law enforcement would leave that building open. The shooter is dead so we’ll never know if/how/when he was conscripted to “attempt” an assassination. The whole thing just stinks as much as tfg’s poopy Depends.

  4. Here are some points: the ER report was buried which begs the question what are you hiding? His ear showed no damage a short time later. Bullet? Nope. Being shot and disabled didn’t get the racist governor George Wallace elected. To George’s credit, he later had a change of heart and apologized for all his past evil. Repentance equals forgiveness. Trump has never known responsibility for any evil he has done. He continues to be a traitorous child killing nazi. So don’t worry pissant. None of us plan to forget what you’ve done, what you plan to do, and who and what you are.

  5. “Trump could honestly do himself a favor here by releasing the medical report”

But that might involve intentionally telling the truth, something he’s never done in his life.

He’s far too old to change now.

  6. Oh. I failed to mention the shooter researched whomever was coming to his area, not targeting Trump specifically. His parents are magats, which makes one wonder if he was in a rebellious mood. Finally phuckhead…YOU and your cult are responsible for overturning the assault weapon ban, and blocking gun control of ANY kind, resulting in children being murdered continually in the USA. So go take a flying phuck at a flying bullet. I’m personally glad you’re alive. I’m for the slow torturous route. You don’t deserve to die quickly.

  7. I don’t get the connection with Reagan. But, obviously none of his throng of lackeys is willing to remind Donald of a few FACTS about the assassination attempt on Reagan:

First, the attempt on Reagan’s life took place a little over two months after his first inauguration (March 30, 1981, to be precise). Not during a presidential campaign.

Second, Reagan was SERIOUSLY injured in the attempt. The bullet actually did manage to break a rib, puncture a lung and caused serious internal bleeding. Plus, others were also injured during the assassination including a Secret Service agent (Tim McCarthy) who took an actual bullet to the chest (and was operated on near Reagan), a DC police officer (Thomas Delahanty) who was also wounded and suffered nerve damage that led to his retirement from the force, and, of course, Reagan’s Press Secretary, James Brady who actually WAS shot in the head and left him partially paralyzed and with brain damage (evidenced mainly from slurred speech–what’s Trump’s excuse–and an inability to recognize people and having memory gaps). When Brady died a decade ago, his death was formally ruled a homicide (the death being a result of his injuries).

Third, and most importantly, Reagan NEVER capitalized on the assassination attempt. It was NEVER considered a factor in the 1984 election. As much as I loathe Reagan, at least HE had an agenda that did NOT rely on the kind of fear-mongering that Trump thrives on. Also, Reagan NEVER felt a need to “make America great AGAIN.” Reagan believed, in the very depths of his soul, that America was already the greatest country on Earth. As I mentioned many times during Trump’s first run that his “slogan” was something that would’ve been wholly rejected by EVERY Republican voter in years earlier because it implied that America was no longer “great.” EVERY speech that Reagan made was premised on the idea that the US was already the greatest country by far, but even the greatest could always improve. (His belief also made it much harder for Democrats to really run against him because virtually any counter-argument made could be seen as “unpatriotic,” especially in the burgeoning “sound bite” era. The concept of a 24/7/365 news channel was just beginning in the early 1980s–CNN first launched in June of 1980 and would finally gain White House press access not long after the assassination attempt.)
