If you go over to Twitter you see the gushing tributes of people like Lindsey Graham to Brian Kemp. The governor had a terrible falling out with Donald Trump just a few weeks ago. Trump called him “disloyal” “weak” the usual lexicon of putdowns. Trump even lumped Kemp’s wife into the mess. Kemp drew the line at that and told Trump “leave my family out of this.” But Kemp did not draw the line where he should have, which was to stay in opposition to Trump’s return to the White House. Nope. That’s too much for Kemp. It’s too much for all of them. And THAT’s the problem. That is why we are in the mess we are in with one candidate for president who is qualfied and another who has no business being on the ticket.

We’ve seen it over and over. Chris Sununu had Trump’s number. As did Kemp. As — for that matter — did J.D. Vance. You’re going to see a clip of Vance in the days when he was making sense. Both Sununu and Kemp were anti-Trump but now they’ve endorsed him. And we won’t even mention Lindsey Graham and his epic flip flops. He called Trump a “kook” and “xenophobe” then he loved him, then on January 6 he had to get off the Trump train and that lasted a few minutes.

This is the problem. The GOP minimizes Trump’s sins. They also cloak him with an aura of legitimacy and invincibility. They answer for his many sins. They gaslight the American people and particularly the Republicans. Their religious leaders call him an “imperfect vessel” and forget about his crimes and his sins.

We’ve never seen anything like this prior to Trump. And God help us if this is the new way that the GOP intends to proceed, throwing away politics as we know it and endorsing somebody who can get votes because he’s a celebrity in some other field. Maybe this is the New GOP that I’ve predicted. The conservative party is dead and I’ve long seen a rebirth of some kind, but maybe this is it. Maybe MAGA will continue to run celebrities on its ticket and we’ll have the Idiocracy ticket and the Democrats.

This isn’t how a democracy works. But dyed in the wool Republican that he is, Kemp has to throw his weight behind Trump in the hopes that lightning will strike twice and somehow he’ll win and the GOP can have some figurehead in the top spot so they can stack the judiciary. They’ve given up on governance, obviously. Now they’re just doing raw, naked power plays.

Kemp supposedly harbors other political ambitions, like running for Jon Ossoff’s senate seat in 2026 or maybe he has presidential ambitions of his own. This endorsement is going to hang around his neck like an albatross whatever he does in the future.

Governor Kemp, you should seriously be ashamed of yourself. If anybody knows what a lunatic Trump is, it is you.

This is the mental illness of the Republican party. They know who and what Trump is but they’ll run him again and again and again in the hopes that somehow they can manipulate him into some form of reasonable behavior. And they keep dragging the rest of America through the mud while they justify the unjustifiable and support the completely unworthy.

  1. Great article, Ms. Faw! Serendipity strikes — I was cruising headlines and heard about this JD Vance remix raging on TikTok and thought of PolitiZoom

I suspect young voters notorious for not taking polls/ surveys might just vote in droves for Kamala. These kids get little credit for how awesome they are. And they know how to dance ! 😎

  2. Your words “… GOO minimises Trump’s sins …” are spot on! By contrast Harris continues exposed all of Trump’s sins through his weaknesses. Trump attempts to avoid exposing all this, but will always project how he thinks and acts, being: he has no fortitude; no energy; no stamina; no truth; no message; no mental acuity; no plan; no discipline to follow sound advice; no ability to stay on message. Regardless of who he gets to heel at his beckon call, to the surprise of others – is he blackmailing them somehow? In reality it’s the strategy of a failing false idol. Trump is progressively getting worse, in real time, as he sticks his head up at his non-campaign, delusional bitch-stop sessions, only to be a self-inflicted ‘whack a mole’ withering statistic.

  3. Republican= someone who has no principles. A compass always points north…they spin around always pointing to self interest. The country be damned. FIGHT! VOTE!

  4. Sold his soul? Aren’t most maga (those that bend the knee to 💩-45… regardless of self id)… already on their third or fourth mortgage on selling their souls 🤔🤔🤷🏽‍♂️

    • They’re all emulating John Constantine.

In some of the comics, Constantine has essentially sold his soul to so many various demons and other various “lords of Hell,” that he’s functionally immortal as he knows the minute he dies, all these entities will be going to war to claim that one soul. Generally, in this mortal world, if you offer a single item for sell at $1000 and accept a dozen offers and you send out responses to all those dozen buyers saying it’s now their item, most courts recognize whosever offer you accepted first as the valid legal owner (obviously, not talking about auctions here). I guess when you fancy yourself a “lord of Hell,” you also feel you’re way above the need to follow any silly earthly laws or standards (much like GOPers). No wonder Lucifer abandoned Hell and decided to open a nightclub in LA.
