If you didn’t have tears in your eyes tonight, watching the arrival of the three American detainees finally arriving back home at Joint Base Andrews, you’re not human. Teri and I were both wiping our eyes.
Mark my words, Vice President Kamala Harris will be the next President of the United States. It isn’t even close. Because the Welcome Home ceremony tonight at Joint Base Andrews tonight shone a bright spotlight on the critical, basic difference between President Biden, VP Harris and the Democrats, and the death eater cult of Trump.
Tonight’s spectacle was something that money can’t buy. It was raw, human emotion, families being reunited with kin they had to keep wondering if they’d ever see again. And in one brilliant diplomatic masterstroke, all those fears were washed away.
Trump. Is. Toast. And so is his alleged 4th Reich. It was Trump who posited that Putin was a brilliant Leader. It was Trump who sought Putin’s help to win the 2016 election. It was Trump who gave Putin virtual freedom to do whatever he wanted in Europe since they weren’t paying their share. And it was the slavish GOP House that tried to give Putin carte blanche to do what he would in Ukraine, by holding up support. The craven party of American traitors.
And in one shining moment, the MAGA GOP and their Fuhrer were swept away by a tidal wave of patriotism. Three American citizens, unjustly imprisoned by Putin, and whom Trump claimed he could free upon reelection, even before being inaugurated, because his buddy Putin would do it for him, were hugging and kissing their families. President Biden, upon greeting former Marine Paul Whalen, undid his Personal American flag pin, and pinned it to Whelan’s lapel instead.
The Democrats now own the Patriotism label. The GOP spent more than 20 years, from the 60’s to the 70’s portraying themselves as the Patriotic party rallying against the socialist Democrats. And now, thanks to Biden and the Democrats, the US is reining in Russian excesses, and bringing our people home.
This is something that the Democrats, all of the Democrats can ride home to election day. There are only 95 days left, and this is going to dominate the news cycle for days. Watch for heavy play of the hostages release during the Democrats national convention.
The attack ads write themselves. GOP stalwarts railing against money for Ukraine while glorifying Putin. Flash to a shot of the American hostages coming down the airplane stairs to freedom.
Are you for freedom and democracy, or are you for an authorititarian regime under Trump? The Democrats have already set this election, once again as a battle for the soul of democracy, and now they have the artillery to smash the GOP’s lines. Energize, motivate, and GOTV.

They say you make your own luck, and, man, this is a great example of it. After his ‘performance’ at the NABJ and his racism was again paraded, Trump was sure he was the most talked about person on all our media, again. Publicity and leaving no room for anyone else is what he relies on, it’s his raison d’etre.
But today, all that was pushed away before it even really started, by the greatest achievement of pure statesmanship of the last few years.
And Biden demonstrated, yet again that he could actually DO things that Trump claimed he would do, but never did. And by doing so, clearly showed up Trump’s boastful flaccid impotence.
