On Sunday the New York Sanitation Department seemingly thought to take advantage of JD Vance’s love for couches to post on Twitter a timely reminder of how to properly dispose of a piece of furniture once the fire of new love has died down. The well placed stains they displayed on the cartoon couch logo for the campaign caused quite a hubbub on social media:

“The New York City Sanitation Department seemed to subtweet Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), former President Donald Trump’s running mate, with a suspiciously timed message about disposing of sofas.

“Have a couch you just… don’t love anymore?” the agency wrote on X and other social media sites Sunday, followed by instructions on how to discard it.

The post included an image of a couch with some questionable stains:

Vance has been dogged by an urban legend that he had sex with a couch and described the experience in his bestselling memoir, “Hillbilly Elegy.”
Several news organizations that reviewed the book found no such passage, but that hasn’t stopped the jokes.“

And it seems NY City Sanitation’s contribution to the phenomenon will do little to slow the hilarity:

  5. Yes, but was the sex with the couch consensual? Did Vance’s couch bear any children? Or did the couch need “reproductive healthcare” and need to participate in “abortion tourism” by being forced to fee to another state for said healthcare? Did he marry the couch to make the little “couchlet’s” legitimate? If no marriage ceremony was performed, does the couch have cats? Is the couch “sociopathic” and “deranged?” And is the resulting trauma involved with these psychosocial conditions due to being childless with cats or being raped by JD Vance? These are questions many people are asking. The answers are important to the fabric of this nation. Are these issues discussed in the Project 2025 Manifesto? If not, is it too late to add them?
