This week, the Furkids were inspired by their Aunty Paula who told them that the first song heard on the Moon was Frank Sinatra’s version of Fly Me to the Moon. Buzz Aldrin chose the song which accompanied his first steps onto the lunar surface.
Today marks 55 years since that first lunar landing on July 21, 1969. While it’s true that Furkids don’t get why hoomins wanted to go to the Moon, they do understand it’s an important anniversary to us and that’s reason enough for celebrating it! (They do love a party, especially when there is music and treats!)
So grab your party hat and favourite drink, press play on the jukebox and scroll down to the illustrated lyrics so you can sing along!

Furkids love the frothy milkshakes at ko-fi.com/furkids. They want you to know they love licking up their frothy moustaches. You can treat them to their favourite frothies for $3/€3/£3. All proceeds go towards Loula’s healthcare (she’s due for her annual vaccination next month but shhh , don’t tell her). Our heartfelt thanks to all contributors.

Yay, Michelle, for this posting! It is jam-packed with memories for me! In 1969, I was 14 and on 7-21 my family was packed in a car heading to a family funeral. It’s late at night and we’re on rural roads in northern MO/southern IA listening to the greatest event in humankind on a tinny AM radio. The broadcast started screaming “the astronauts are gonna come out earlier than we thought!” We found an isolated, teeny motel and begged to rent a room with TV for a couple of hours! The motel owner had not realized the astronauts were jumping the gun, thanked us and opened up his office (better TV) and the snack machines! So, just like everybody else on the planet that night, we became friends instead of strangers! 🤗😊
I love the CODA, too. There are too many stories of xtians taking beautiful, natural pagan beliefs and turning them into weird stories nobody even understands anymore!
Keep up the good work. Hope the Furkids enjoy the milkshakes I was compelled to send! 🥤😻
Thank you for reminiscing about what you were doing on that extraordinary day – what a wonderful memory!
On behalf of the Furkids now sporting frothy moustaches, my grateful thanks too for the milkshakes. 💕
Correction: Hubby reminded that in my time zone, the walk happened on 7-20. It was late. I was a tired, cranky teenager. I assumed it was after midnight. Please forgive!
Absolutely forgiven! When I looked it up, it told me 7-21 so I’m assuming it was after midnight at Cape Kennedy. I was in Australia and it was 21/7 here because that’s how we write our dates!
