We frequently need outsiders to give us an objective viewpoint on what’s going on. This is true if you’re a family, a business, or a presidential campaign. It becomes a forest for the trees kind of a thing where you’re too close to the problem (if there is one) to see it with objectivity. Because politics since 2015 has been so drop dead insane, we, meaning Democrats, have had the advantage of former GOP strategists kicking in their two cents and helping us navigate the shark-infested (whether literally or in Trump’s imagination) waters of the 2020 and 2024 elections. Thank God for that. Because left to our own devices who knows what we would be doing to step on our own toes and cut our own throats.
It was predicted by many that Joe Biden would not win in 2020. That was wrong. It was predicted that there would be a “red tsunami” in 2022. That turned out to be a complete joke. And now the year is 2024 and the prediction is that Joe Biden is too feeble to continue and must drop out of the race. That is an ugly allegation which has been met with furor. Joe Biden isn’t going anywhere. Mike Madrid, who was the head of the GOP in California and then became a co-founder of the Lincoln Project, kicks in his two cents.
I do think heading into this week Biden is in a commanding position politically. If he doesn’t want to go the base appears to be backing him decisively and the blowback on the pressure campaign should be a warning to members coming at him.

This goes to point out the worst aspect of the Democratic party. We are so easily defeated because we are so easily fragmented. There are times when I am embarrassed for my party and this is one of them. I am put in mind of Will Rogers’ famous line, “I’m not a member of any organized political party. I’m a Democrat.” Truer words were never spoken. There is always, among Democrats, some desire to find fault in a situation where there is none, or to create worry where there need be none.
Yes, we have an older candidate. We have the oldest candidate on record running for a second term, in fact. But my God, would you look at what’s on the other side of the equation? You have a convicted criminal and adjudicated rapist and more anecdotes about his history as a rapist are currently surfacing. Yet we’re supposed to be the slightest bit worried about our guy? Madrid continues.
It’s really hard to see a successful coup here if Harris, Clyburn, and the Black caucus have his back.
Stranger things have happened in politics and with this much time the base will still likely coalesce behind the nominee.

The mainstream media has one concern and one only and that is the almighty dollar. So yes, they want to stir up as much dissention as possible about Joe Biden’s age and alleged infirmity. And plenty of air time (and fees) will be allocated for anybody with pundit credentials who wants to jump on the bandwagon and predict Biden’s imminent collapse.
See this for what it is, which is aiding and abetting the worst threat to this nation that we’ve faced (since WWII at least) which is Donald Trump. That’s all that this is doing.
Whether it’s getting Trump more votes, I could not say. My personal opinion for some time now is that the lines are already drawn on the Trump/Biden contest. There are no “undecided” voters unless they recently arrived from Mars. Anybody who is going to vote knows who they’re going to vote for and has probably known for some time. That’s how polarized this country is.
Joe Biden can lead us on to another victory. And he’s not in the White House by himself. Nor has he been. He’s got an able staff. He’s got an able vice president. None of that is going to change. Let’s just not be idiots and snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
Let’s not forget we don’t know what piglet the fascist pig will choose to run the country when he drops from a heart attack. We know who Joe has as his VP. The racists and criminals are AFRAID…after all, she got Bill Bullfrog Barr to admit on national tv he has no idea what the word ‘suggest’ means. And him being a lawyer and all…a supposed ‘expert’ in wordsmithing. They should be afraid…and THEY ARE!!!
“He’s got an able staff” And STABLE. Key point is that the President runs the team, listening and directing. Count those who have left/been fired (and gone to prison) from the current administration.
How many very fine and top notch guys were appointed by his predecessor? Redo the count; compare and contrast.
