Lorenzo Sewell, the pastor whose Detroit area church was used as a photo op/staged rally by the Trump campaign yesterday in an attempt to garner black support in Michigan for the coming election, appeared on MSNBC Sunday night where he admitted that as he was soliciting folks on the street to attend the event (which seems to indicate to me that he was aware his parishioners would not show up) many laughed at his suggestion.

I wonder why?

Raw Story

“The Detroit pastor who hosted Donald Trump’s much ridiculed church roundtable — which was promoted as a reach-out to Black voters but later shown to have a large white turnout — said people laughed in his face when he suggested they attend.

“Was the audience mostly white?” asked anchor Charles Coleman Jr.

“I was very surprised…about how many black people were actually, physically in the building,” Sewell replied.

“I remember walking down Grand River, a place that is desolate on the west side of Detroit, and walking down the street and just inviting people, saying, ‘The former president is here if you want to come.” Sewell said.

“They were laughing like I was when I first was approached.”

Again, the pastor’s words are quite telling.

All of the videos and photos we have seen of the event show quite clearly that the majority of the crowd were clearly white.

If Sewell was surprised by the few black attendees he did see his expectations must have been low indeed.

Coleman’s next guest mince no words about his opinion of the event…

This perspective stood in stark contrast to Coleman’s next guest, Dr. Wendell Anthony, a pastor and president of the Detroit Branch NAACP.

“[Trump] didn’t articulate any policy, he articulated the fact that he wanted to come and get some Black votes,” Anthony said. “We don’t need people to stand up on frivolity, we need you to come in and talk about policy…Don’t fall for the snake because every time you do, you get bit.”

Exactly

At least it was gratifying to see how many news outlets called BS on Trump’s latest dog and pony show yesterday.

Maybe some of them are not ready to see democracy end just yet.

    • You think those wipipo weren’t a planned thing? They were rounded up so that Von Shitzinpants would not have to deal with many people of color-seats would be full of wipipo. Turns out, that’s exactly what happened-a klan rally in a black church with a few black folks watching it. I would make book that email/letters went out to his supporters in the area, I suspect they looked at where the checks came from, and contacted those people. Anyone f*cking stupid enough to send “campaign contributions” for his legal woes is going to show up at one of his klan rallies. It’s a given.

My question is why the people of color did not ask Von Shitzi directly why so many wipipo were in their church because they never seem to show up during church services.
