Let me make this clear from the start. Donald Trump is a racist. He’s also a misogynist and a xenophobe. And a sexist pig to his bones. That’s because these are traits that were ingrained in him at birth or as a toddler, and he has nurtured and refined those throughout his life.
But at the same time, here is what Donald Trump is not. And while you may disagree with me, please read on for the full explanation before you tune out. trump is not a neo Nazi, nor is he a white nationalist, nor a far right religious zealot. And here’s why. At their core, all of those are learned, passionate political views, and Trump has no political views at all. Trump is a political chameleon, using phrases and dog whistles to exploit the passions of his followers, with no political views of his own.
Here’s why this is critical in uncovering the psyche of the MAGA movement. When Trump stands on the stage spouting out anti gay, anti Semitic, sexist, neo Nazi white nationalist bullsh*t, he’s triggering preset responses in his followers, like Pavlov’s dog. Trump himself feels nothing, since he doesn’t even know these people exist. They’re immaterial to him. He’s like a car salesman, preaching the wonders of the horsepower and handling to get another sucker in the car and off the lot. The salesman himself takes the bus.
But here’s the McGuffin. While Trump knows it’s all a show in poor taste, the fact is that a good portion of his supporters know it’s a show in sh*tty taste too. I’ve never forgotten this. In an interview at a Trump rally, a MSNBC reporter talked to a guy wearing a Q-Anon t-shirt who told the reporter that he knew that Trump was full of sh*t, and couldn’t deliver a single thing he promised, as long as His Lowness was making the libtards lose their collective sh*t, he was going to be right there along for the ride. A good portion of Trump’s own supporters know he’s full of sh*t, but like a Foreigner reunion tour, the fans want to hear all of the old favorites.
But here’s where it gets dangerous, and in fact is killing the GOP, making it the Snake that’s eating its tail. Because while there’s a good portion of Trump’s base that goes into this already knowing that it’s a sh*t show, and they’re just there for the entertainment and piss off value, there are a whole lot more out there who actually buy into this vicious rhetoric, and all that it stands for. And they’re taking Trump and his GOP minions at their word. And they’re ready for action.
POP QUIZ! At its core, what is the genesis of The Big Lie, going all the way back to 1930’s Nazi Germany? That any lie, no matter how large or nonsensical, left unchallenged, will eventually be believed by the greater bovine herd. And in fact, in candid moments, Trump’s regime has never even bothered to try to refute using The Big Lie.
But the whole problem is that it can’t be just Traitor Tot spouting this lame sh*t. This is Trump’s party, and the underlings had damn well better toe the line. And so you now have weak kneed, sniveling MAGA sycophants in the House and Senate starting to espouse the same racist claptrap. Which means that they’re trying to peddle The Big Lie to their own constituents. which is incredibly dangerous, both for them as well as the nation.
Trump is never going to give this bullsh*t up. It anchors him to his far right neo Nazi white nationalist base, and he loves the thought of having his own private army. But Trump’s shine doesn’t transfer over to his minions, and a good portion of their constituents are probably not going to be down with this racist claptrap. Putting them at risk in 2024.
It started out with Trump almost like a marketing gimmick, a way to attract lower interest, extreme right voters to the polls to tip the tide in a national election. And it actually failed there, Trump lost the national vote by 3 million votes. But it got Trump his private army, and to paraphrase the old joke, When Trump hates, everybody hates! And now GOP incumbents are spouting sh*t that places them at risk with their own voters heading into November. CHOMP! CHOMP! CHOMP!
