Not One, But TWO Insurrectionists On SCOTUS

My first reaction to hearing this news was How the hell are we only hearing about this NOW? Hours later that’s still something I can’t wrap my head around. Well, it’s being talked about now and news outlets are covering the story. However there are questions they either aren’t asking or aren’t telling us the answers to. So let’s take a closer look.

This article by The Associated Press provides the basic story in a neutral fashion. That’s how they roll. Now, I learned as early as grade school that an upside down flag was a symbol of distress and/or danger. I’ll bet anyone reading this did too. But as the AP notes at the beginning of their article an upside down flag in the environment of and after the insurrection riot on the Capitol Trump fomented was widely seen as a symbol of their movement claiming election fraud. Alito’s wife damn well had to have seen coverage and all the upside down flags.  That’s why his explanation is so weak but I’ll get to his statement.

I’ll make this a short detour, but let me ask you this: If as I did you saw a headline saying Flag Flow Upside Down At Justice’s House (or something to that effect) with no names (the case when I saw it) you’d make the same assumption I did. It was at Clarence Thomas’ House and even if he didn’t raise it that way himself Ginni told him what she was going to do and he said go ahead.  So yes, it was startling to learn the image I saw wasn’t THOMAS’ house but Alito’s. Little Sammy, who deems himself perfectly capable of controlling women’s bodies, right down to reproductive choices wants us to believe that gee whiz, I can’t stop my wife from expressing HER beliefs.

But that’s not exactly the lame-ass excuse he gave. No, he shifted blame onto a neighbor he wants us to believe provoked his wife. Little Sammy is as we know easily butt-hurt. Snowflakes are granite compared to HIS fee fees. From the linked article and other reporting it seems a neighbor had an unflattering sign about Trump/Trumpism in her yard and the neighbor and his wife had a spat about it. Her “briefly” flying the flag upside down was he wants us to believe directed solely at that nasty neighbor. The one who dared to make public NON-Veneration of Trump and perhaps certain Justices who have proven to be activist conservative operatives in judicial robes.  The bottom line according to the “Justice” is this was a neighbor’s spat and no big deal. Certainly not a political statement. And he of course knew nothing about the flag.

I call bullshit. Bullshit. BULL SHIT!

But, the reporting suggests without details the flag wasn’t flown upside down for all that long. And as I said I have questions about that.  First, keep in mind this was during a time of heightened security for a lot of VIPs in our nations Capitol. SCOTUS was on the list of folks getting round the clock protection which included security watching their homes. Whether Capitol Police or U.S. Marshalls federal LE was watching that house which means they saw that flag get raised. Upside down.  So:

1. What time did the flag get raised –  upside down?
2. WHO raised it? Alito’s wife? One of the kids? Some staffer? Part of her security detail even?
3. WHEN exactly was it taken down? And by whom?
4. Was Alito, or perhaps Roberts notified and a call made to the house to fly the flag properly, and if so what time?
5. If this was part of a neighborly dispute did the neighbor in question see it? Or any other neighbors? Did they take any pictures of their own? And even call the media with a Hey, check THIS out tip?

Personally I think these are ALL questions that deserve answers. There’s been ample time for reporters to head into that neighborhood and start knocking on doors.  I can see in this Trump inspired MAGA violence world those people not wanting to go on the record but they should be willing to talk on background and answer most, if not all that. And frankly, some much harder and more pointed questions need to be put to Chief Justice Roberts and Alito too about whether and/or when they were notified by the protective detail. And the protective detail has some questions of their own to answer. Especially if they sat back and not only didn’t do jack, but didn’t SAY jack to their superiors, or make a call to their counterparts at SCOTUS to tip them off.  So that Roberts in particular could deal with this and swiftly.

If Alito was going to make some lame-ass excuse like the one he’s provided, like their was a vulgar dispute with a neighbor that resulted in a nasty lawn sign and my wife “briefly” responded in not the wisest way THAT would have been the time. And offered at least a fig leaf of plausible deniability. However, from where I sit keeping it hushed up for so long tells the REAL story. That just as you know damned well Thomas knows all about and supports his dirtbag wife’s activities because he shares her beliefs, Alito is the same when it comes to HIS dirbag wife.

Mrs. Alito is just, except in this instance far more discreet than Ginni Thomas.  Then again, have journalists ever taken a real look at her?  There’s yet another intriguing (at least to me) question!  Just who does SHE hang out with. What groups is she affiliated with?  We’re already learning that like Thomas, Alito has taken his share of bigly perks from wealthy benefactors who have business that has already or might come before the Court.  And Roberts’ wife makes what, ten million or year consulting and with people involved in Federalist Society causes they hope to get in front of SCOTUS.

Little Sammy Alito is an increasingly angry and bitter man. I used to think some of the pictures of him almost grimacing were because he suffers from chronic constipation. After Dobbs I came to a different belief.  At best he’s contemptuous of women and quite possible hates them. Because somewhere in his past he carried a torch for ONE woman – who shot him down. Most of us have one, perhaps a couple of people in our past we were smitten by and were pretty strongly rejected by them. It sucks to be sure. It can even be embarrassing if we make a public display of our affection and get shot down in front of others. Almost all of us get over it. I think in Alito’s case he’s someone who made a big show and got humiliated and vowed revenge.

And he’s grown drunk on his ability to take it out on women everywhere. And us guys too. Just because.  Anyway, we now have two openly insurrectionist Justices. And you can count on this. Even if SCOTUS has voted NOT to grant Trump immunity those two will drag out writing their dissents until the last possible moment. That means no decision until the last day on the Court’s calendar at the end of next month. Which means no J6 Trial, at least until after the election. Provided Biden wins.

The House won’t do anything and yes, there are Constitutional issues about separation of powers but someone like Senator Whitehouse should drop legislation into the hopper about a formal code of ethics FORCING recusals of Justices when circumstances require it. This is such a time. I’m convinced if not for Thomas and Alito SCOTUS would never have taken up Trump’s immunity appeal but that’s a whole different topic.

For now I just hope those reading this will start posing the questions I asked earlier (and some of your own) around on their own social media.
